___
In another area of the hospital, Shinho and Mamu stood outside a hospital door. It was a door to a 4-bed ward and, among these beds, there was... Jane Yu.
Mamu’s eyes were red and puffed up. He hadn’t stopped crying since the war, and he had gathered all his courage to go here. However, he was at a loss of what to do. He was plagued by guilt and became extremely depressed. Mamu had no family—he literally just tagged along Shinho’s party—and it made people worry about him more.
Fortunately, Shinho saw this and understood his state, proposing to go to the hospital with him.
Although they had no idea how Jane was going to react, it was best for the child being consumed by guilt to see her and hear it for himself.
He had known Jane through Koo. He would often take them to his house, and she’d make them delicious snacks. She was so kind and gentle, and he knew just how broken she’d be at the loss of her son.
Even if she blamed him, that was understandable. At least Mamu had a direction in which he could go to—to make up to her, one way or another.
Mamu knew this and he agreed. He just wanted to know what to do, and he was willing to do anything to make it up to Koo.
Mamu’s heart clenched whenever he remembered what happened. Koo had rescued him from the aborigine attacker. However, even if Koo was strong for his level, he was still at a disadvantage against the stronger man.
Fortunately, Alterra always had a strategy and Koo quickly merged with his team to deal with the enemies. Mamu also fought with them with his continuous and surprisingly accurate shots.
To be fair, Mamu’s shots were really good and, while it didn’t hurt much, they were effective distractions, helping the adults make safer kills. After all, who would feel comfortable with their eyes being hit every so often? Some even bled, even if no one was blinded.
It also inevitably added a target on his head.
The enemy abruptly turned and, without warning, jumped up to the balcony where Mamu was. This enemy had been distracted by him twice and was one of the reasons he received deadly wounds on his body from Koo and the others.
He was very weak and at his last breath, but his strength was more than enough to handle him, especially when he was going berserk!
"MAMU!" Koo yelled, dashing toward them.
He had awakened the stable earth element. Although it was still weak, it was enough to bolt him up to grab the balcony.
A short, but deadly, battle occurred on that balcony a moment later, and ultimately two lives were lost.
"It’s... not your fault," he said. "You helped us a lot and you only wanted to contribute. Koo doesn’t blame you—no one does." freeweɓnovel.cøm
"HURRY!" the doctor screamed at the nurses, ordering them to bring her some medicine. "SHE’S DYING!!!"
