However, the man stepped past Eletantron casually, as though he was walking through a field of flowers. He stopped before a pedestal, his eyes now fixed on the six glowing cores suspended in a containment field.
A glint passed through his eyes as he observed them.
"Despite how utterly useless your existence is…" he said, "…you've managed to prove useful after all. Six cores… beautiful."
Eletantron, still pressed to the ground, forced his voice out through clenched teeth.
"Please… don't take the cores," he growled. "I need them. I need to make that bastard pay… for everything he did to me."
The man didn't turn, but his smile widened.
"You ask for something…" he said, "then offer something in return. What are you willing to give?"
Eletantron's eyes widened. He knew where this was going. His fists dug into the ground as flashes of the humiliation Atticus had put him through crashed through his mind. That face. That gaze.
His heart turned colder.
"…I'll sign a mana contract," he said.
That made the man finally turn.
"Good."
He didn't summon any contract, nor lift a finger.
Instead, with a thought, arcane words began carving themselves into the air, glowing and pulsing before he sent it to Eletantron.
"Insert your mana," the man said.
Eletantron obeyed. The moment his mana touched the contract, it flared, binding deep into his core. He felt it instantly, an unbreakable link tying him to this man.
The man nodded with satisfaction. "Good. The Dimensari and the Vampyros will play a major role in what's to come. You'll both absorb these cores."
Eletantron's eyes snapped to Jezeneth, who had now silently risen and appeared beside him. His lips parted, about to protest…. But the man's aura surged. It pressed on him, silencing him before he could speak.
"It wasn't a request," the man said coldly.
Eletantron clenched his fists again, but said nothing.
With a flick of his fingers, the man summoned the six cores from their containment. They split into two trios, each hovering before Eletantron and Jezeneth.
"Unfortunately," the man continued, "neither of you are capable of unraveling these cores. No one on this primitive planet is. That child… is the only anomaly."
Eletantron and Jezeneth's eyes widened.
The Queen had been happy at getting power so that she would be able to crush Atticus. The same desire burned in Eletantron's heart, but they were both confused.
If they couldn't absorb the cores, why give them?
"But don't worry," the man said softly, as his crimson eyes gleamed, "I'll help you absorb them."
His smile deepened. "It will just come… with a little side effect."
Suddenly, the room darkened. The air warped around them. The man's eyes blazed brighter than ever, twin infernos of crimson.
Eletantron and Jezeneth's eyes snapped wide, their bodies convulsing as the cores began to force themselves into them.
Screams erupted as pain flooded every one of their nerves.
It was torment. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
And the man simply stood there… watching. Still smiling.
