The overall design was simplistic yet elegant, something Benjamin wasn't averse to. That said, he had never expressed his desire for a move.
He lowered his head and saw Benji Gold pressing its head against Shanny Gold, their little hands tapping on the design plans as if choosing a room for themselves.
His gaze dimmed, and after some thought, he pulled a cell phone from the drawer; it used to belong to him.
Since his return, Luke had returned it to him, but he never switched it on.
As the phone powered on, the wallpaper revealed a photo of the rain and dim streetlights. It was taken from a distance and featured a nostalgic antique car in front of a yellow streetlamp, with two figures standing under an umbrella in the misty, light rain.
The faces of the two figures were unclear, but Benjamin knew it was him and Shannon.
The black-and-white scene in his memory seemed to come alive with the vibrant colors of the wallpaper, and Shannon's figure gradually became clear—red hair, a witch, graceful, exquisite, and mysterious.
Benjamin stared at the wallpaper for a moment before opening the messaging app. The pinned chat was still with her.
He casually scrolled through their previous conversations—there were no sweet words, only restrained and calm exchanges. Yet, from those few words, he could still sense the feelings he once had for her.
As memories related to the old Benjamin began to resurface clearly from the vast sea of his mind, it felt as if a part of them had been processed and illuminated.
He closed his eyes for a moment, and then, instead of continuing to browse the chat, he sent her a message.
Shannon was reviewing the feedback on the MysticApp forum post when her phone suddenly pinged with a new message. Her hand instinctively twitched at the familiar profile picture and accidentally downvoted one of the latest comments.
Not bothering to take it back, she almost reflexively opened the message. Sure enough, it was from Benjamin.
