The Krovian shamans failed to achieve their goal and had to leave in frustration. They were forced to find another solution on their own.
Somehow, details of their discussion leaked onto the MysticApp forum. Word-for-word transcripts of their heated debate were posted online.
All mystic masters, demons, and phantom cultivators felt they could finally breathe easy again.
Luke read the post and scoffed. "If those old geezers weren't clear-headed when dealing with outsiders, I would've shut down the Mystic Arts Association ages ago."
As he spoke, his gaze flickered to Benjamin, who'd remained silent. He continued, "Still, since Krovia failed to negotiate and has no way to resolve the putrefaction themselves, they'll probably spread the word about you soon."
If that happened, those who'd been eyeing Crisea's Dragon Vein from the shadows would start making moves again.
After all, the presence of the National Dragon Vein was the reason Cresiea had richer spiritual energy than any other nation, and that was why Crisea had more mystic masters than anywhere else.
"Looks like we need to tighten the border security. Can't have any rats sneaking in," Luke muttered.
His gaze swept over Benjamin, and he suddenly changed the topic. "And about your accommodation; you moved near Shannon to investigate the putrefaction. Now that the issue is resolved, isn't it time for you to move—"
Benjamin, who'd been unresponsive to the words Luke had spoken earlier, finally lifted his gaze. Then, he cut Luke off. "I won't be moving out for now."
He didn't explain why, and Luke didn't ask. The latter simply chuckled and shrugged. "Whatever makes you happy."
Then as if casually mentioning it in passing, he added, "Staying there isn't a bad idea actually. If someone from abroad does come looking for trouble, at least I won't have to be there watching your back."
Benjamin's gaze flickered slightly at those words as if emotions stirred in his heart. He glanced at Luke and stared at him for a long time. Then without another word, he turned and walked away.
Luke watched him leave and clicked his tongue. That was as much as he could help.
…
When Benjamin returned to the courtyard in Demon District, lively noises came from Shannon's side.
