Suzanne took a brief, cold glance at Lillian but did not plan on consoling her. She turned around and headed toward her desk. Because it was the morning rush hour, many employees at the company were arriving at work in succession.
Those who arrived at work a little later ended up having puzzled looks on their faces when they saw what was happening.
Why was Lillian bawling her eyes out when she had just returned to work after being on leave for a few days? Nevertheless, they became concerned for her when they noticed the bruises on her face.
However, Lillian kept quiet. She returned to her desk after wiping the tears off her face.
Right at this moment, Seline's voice sounded from the entrance of the design department. In a gentle voice, she announced, "Sue, someone's here to see you."
Everyone, including Suzanne, glanced at the entrance.
Behind Seline was a plainly dressed woman. Her eyes were swollen, and her face, even her lips, were pale. She appeared so weak and frail that it almost looked like she could collapse with just a gentle poke.
This woman was no one else other than Cindy.
Suzanne's expression turned gloomy. She was still fuming from the fuss that Lillian had made, yet someone else had now made an appearance.
Without waiting for Suzanne to say anything, Cindy hurried over to Suzanne's desk with tears on her face. There, she fell to her knees in front of Suzanne.
Everyone in the office was both shocked and speechless at the same time.
Was today an unlucky day? Outrageous incidents were happening in the office one after another.
Suzanne looked away and began working.
Her colleagues came up to help Cindy up to her feet.
"Excuse me, miss. What are you doing?"
"Stand up. The floor is dirty."
"If you have something to say, say it. Why are you kneeling on the floor?"
At that moment, even Lillian had stopped sobbing. Instead, she directed her attention over to Suzanne.
Cindy, however, remained on her knees. She refused to get to her feet no matter how the others in the office tried to help her up.
