Although Lillian had her hair down to cover most of her face, the bruises were still very much evident.

Suzanne furrowed her brows.

"Suzanne, I'm gonna kill you." With a ferocious look on her face, Lillian pounced on Suzanne. Her aggression made everyone in the office jump. Suzanne frowned and stepped back immediately.

Everyone darted over to hold Lillian back. "Lillian, don't be rash."

"Exactly. Use your words instead."

"We're colleagues. It won't look nice on you if you act out like this."

Lillian shoved the woman nearest to her away. She screamed in anger, "It won't look nice? It's thanks to her that I look like this!"

Tears streamed down her face continuously.

After leaving the restaurant that day, Lillian thought that the issue had come to an end. As such, she was planning to flag a cab to get home. Much to her shock, Warwick charged at her and pulled her into an alley before he beat her up.

Glaring frigidly at Lillian, Suzanne defended herself in a displeased tone, "I never laid a hand on you. Don't blame everything on me."

She hadn't even made a fuss about it with Lillian when they were at the restaurant.

Even if Suzanne was an emotionless statue, the fact that the injured Lillian was slandering her made her blood boil.

Lillian cried even harder and choked out the words, "Warwick lost his job because of you, so he took his anger out on me!"

Her face was hurting, even until now. Two of her teeth had also fallen out, affecting her consumption of food.

She wasn't going to just watch as Suzanne came to work as if nothing had happened.

From what Lillian said, Suzanne finally understood the situation. Lillian's boyfriend had beaten her up to let his anger and dissatisfaction out on her.

Peering at Lillian icily, Suzanne said, "Fine. Tell me, then—why did your boyfriend lose his job?"

A glint flickered across Lillian's eyes while everyone turned their attention toward her skeptically.

Suzanne scoffed. "Are you too embarrassed to share?"
