Leonardo paused for a moment. "If things aren't working, then just get a divorce."
"Divorce?" Laura muttered before turning down the idea. "If I divorce him, the woman would get what she wants. I'm sticking around to make her life miserable. She will always remain the mistress as long as I'm around."
She continued, "I'm doing this for your own good, Leo. With me in this position, you'll be the rightful heir. Your grandpa trusted you the most. Find yourself a capable wife and come back to the Garrett Group. The company will eventually be yours."
He wasn't keen to talk about it. After all, he'd heard those words for as long as he could remember.
He remarked, "Don't admit to anyone that you're buying gifts for influencers, Mom. I'll handle the rest."
Laura replied, "Alright. I got it. I know you still care about me."
But he had already ended the call.
Leonardo called Simon to come to the office. Feeling a little drowsy, he realized the temperature was colder than usual. It was as if the iciness was seeping into his core.
The air conditioning in the office was set at a fixed temperature, but why was it so cold today?
Leonardo's mind was a little clouded when Simon knocked on the door and entered. "What do you need, Mr. Garrett?"
He briefly mentioned hosting a dinner before telling Simon to take care of those clickbait pages at first instance. If money couldn't solve the problem, they would escalate it into a legal matter.
If Laura didn't admit she sent those gifts, there would be no evidence that she was the one on the phone. Then, it would be a case of defamation since the news was fake.
Simon nodded. "Got it. I know what to do."
