On the second floor of a certain villa, a man's and a woman's clothes were scattered across the floor. A pair of black stockings—torn and ripped—hung precariously on the couch, leaving an unmistakable air of indulgence and debauchery.
James leaned lazily against the headboard, casually smoking a post-coital cigarette with satisfaction lingering in the sharp lines of his brows and eyes.
Beside him, the woman's cheeks were still flushed, and her expression was soaked in the afterglow of their wild encounter.
His phone vibrated. James took a drag of the cigarette before calmly answering.
"Mr. Fullerton, the Yates family just held a press conference announcing the cancellation of their engagement with the Jacobson family," Liam reported respectfully. "Also, rumors are circulating online that Stephen was spotted entering a hotel with a popular actress. People suspect he cheated."
"Heh." James let out a derisive chuckle. "And here I thought he was some devoted lover. Turns out he's just as much of a womanizer as his father is."
"What should we do about the Yates family then?" Liam asked.
James lowered his eyes in thought. "Keep an eye on them. For all we know, this 'breakup' might just be a trick to throw me off."
"Understood."
"Pay special attention to Tessa's whereabouts and report any movements immediately."
"Yes, Mr. Fullerton."
...
After resting at home for a day, Tessa composed herself and returned to work at the law firm.
The past two days had been relatively calm—no strange accidents or unexpected incidents occurred. Both she and her family were safe and well.
She pressed her lips into a faint smile, though a trace of bitterness was ever-present. It seemed that breaking off the engagement and ending the relationship did have its advantages. At least that lunatic, James, would no longer have a reason to harm her or her family.
As she walked into the firm, her colleagues greeted her one after another.
She returned their greetings with a polite smile, the heels of her black leather pumps clicking lightly against the floor as she made her way to her office.
The firm had a strict dress code—professional attire and black leather shoes. Today, she wore a sleek black suit. Her long hair was pinned neatly at the back of her head. Concealer hid the dark circles beneath her eyes, and the touch of vintage red lipstick added color to her complexion.
Compared to the haggard woman of the past few days, she looked like a completely different person. No one could tell she'd just been through a heartbreak.

Oh my god, when is this book finishing... they're not even back together yet and more nonsense side plots.....
Whoa! Hahahahahaha! Go, Sophia! Burn, stupid Rowena! Lol...
Sooo~ Chapters 310-318 were just a repeat of Jacqueline’s punishment, official expulsion from the Jacobson family, and arrest. With few changes since Tessa and Stephen are not together this time. So Tessa didn’t witness how Jacqueline was tortured at Stephen’s base, though at least Tessa was still called over and witnessed how Stephen officially expelled Jacqueline from the Jacobson family and how Stephen’s subordinate made Jacqueline grovel in front of Tessa. Lol. I hope Jacqueline’s really out of the story now....
Also a lot of chapters were missing here. I went back to the application where it was originally published that’s why i know that this site is not reliable...
Fucked up book! Seems like the authors were not talking to each other. LOL. Yes authors, because of the inconsistencies....
The story went downhill after pg200 1. Why is Jacqueline back… she was expelled from the family already 2. There was no reason for Rowena to be mad at Tessa 3. The Jacobson already knows that Stephen wants to get back witb Tessa after they deal with James, so why is Rowena pushing hard? LOL 4. The family also knows that Stephen and Nancy have some sort of deal. The story was okay from page 1-199, but clearly it’s a thumbs down. I can deal with grammatical errors, but story errors is just different now....
This is funny! Jacqueline was also the culprit why James knew that nancy was Stephen's cousin. So, really, what happened when steohen tortured jacqueline hahah...
I wonder how many authors does this book have? Suddenly jacqueline was back and continue to bad mouth tessa. And was stunned that tessa knows her feelings about stephen. And then rowena was freaking mad at tessa too; because there werw multiple instances that tessa sharp-tongued her. 🤣...
What is wrong with the story flow? At chapter 160-164 there’s this whole thing about Stephen revealing in front of all the Jacobsons family members about Jacqueline’s inappropriate feelings towards him and her involvement in murder. There’s even this “Just like that, Jacqueline was officially expelled from the Jacobson family. Stephen then promptly handed her to the authorities.” So I was already glad the bitch is out of the picture. And then suddenly at chapter 236, Jacqueline appears again like nothing happened, still being the adoptive daughter of the Jacobson family and the family being unaware of her feelings for Stephen. Seriously? Doesn’t make sense anymore....
The latest update is just a repetition of the previous chapters...
