Lester and Tessa were seated in the Lospian restaurant. Lester was elegantly slicing his steak apart while Tessa ordered a Pomanee-Delonti red wine for them to share. The waiter served the wine after the bottle was delivered to their table.
Lester smiled before saying, "Even if the court rules in our favor for the Helio case, the legal fee is only around 20,000 dollars. The wine you just ordered will cost you 18,000 dollars. Ms. Yates, I'm afraid you'll be suffering a loss in this case."
Tessa swirled the red wine in her glass. It was as if she had stars sparkling in her eyes when she smiled at Lester. "No, I'm not the type to accept a loss when dealing with business."
Lester waited for her to continue, his smile still stretched across his lips.
"After all, you'll be bringing in profits for Everbright that are ten times the price of this red wine within the year, Mr. Cooper," Tessa explained with a grin.
Lester chuckled under his breath. "I assumed that you were a fool who had too much money in your pockets, Ms. Yates. It appears that I was mistaken. Who knew you were so skilled when conducting business?"
"Of course. After all, I am my father's daughter."
When it came to the topic of business, no one could surpass the top entrepreneur in all of Rivertown, Samuel Yates.
Tessa was in a good mood throughout the meal. Lester gave her plenty of practical advice, which she made sure to note down in great detail. When they were finished with their meal, Tessa waved the waiter over to pay the bill.
The waiter smiled at her politely and said, "The bill has already been settled by this gentleman over here."
Tessa froze as she was handing over her card. She looked at Lester, who was seated across from her. "I thought I said that I would pay for tonight's meal."
"It's not my style to let a lady pay for my meal," Lester explained simply, his lips curling upward.
Tessa puffed out her cheeks in slight irritation. "A red wine that cost 18,000 dollars and another 2,000 dollars worth of dishes. Mr. Cooper, you haven't actually earned any money at Everbright yet, and you're already forking out 20,000 dollars. Aren't you the one who is running a loss here?"
"Just like you, I don't deal in businesses that will net me a loss," Lester said cheekily. "You're well-connected, Ms. Yates. I'm not afraid of having no cases to work on when I'm working with you. I'll be waiting for you to deliver a big case to me."
"Fine." Tessa slipped her card back into her bag. "I won't go easy on you, then."
Tessa was about to get up and leave when a woman suddenly approached them. Her eyes were wide as she stared at Lester in disbelief.

Sooo~ Chapters 310-318 were just a repeat of Jacqueline’s punishment, official expulsion from the Jacobson family, and arrest. With few changes since Tessa and Stephen are not together this time. So Tessa didn’t witness how Jacqueline was tortured at Stephen’s base, though at least Tessa was still called over and witnessed how Stephen officially expelled Jacqueline from the Jacobson family and how Stephen’s subordinate made Jacqueline grovel in front of Tessa. Lol. I hope Jacqueline’s really out of the story now....
Also a lot of chapters were missing here. I went back to the application where it was originally published that’s why i know that this site is not reliable...
Fucked up book! Seems like the authors were not talking to each other. LOL. Yes authors, because of the inconsistencies....
The story went downhill after pg200 1. Why is Jacqueline back… she was expelled from the family already 2. There was no reason for Rowena to be mad at Tessa 3. The Jacobson already knows that Stephen wants to get back witb Tessa after they deal with James, so why is Rowena pushing hard? LOL 4. The family also knows that Stephen and Nancy have some sort of deal. The story was okay from page 1-199, but clearly it’s a thumbs down. I can deal with grammatical errors, but story errors is just different now....
This is funny! Jacqueline was also the culprit why James knew that nancy was Stephen's cousin. So, really, what happened when steohen tortured jacqueline hahah...
I wonder how many authors does this book have? Suddenly jacqueline was back and continue to bad mouth tessa. And was stunned that tessa knows her feelings about stephen. And then rowena was freaking mad at tessa too; because there werw multiple instances that tessa sharp-tongued her. 🤣...
What is wrong with the story flow? At chapter 160-164 there’s this whole thing about Stephen revealing in front of all the Jacobsons family members about Jacqueline’s inappropriate feelings towards him and her involvement in murder. There’s even this “Just like that, Jacqueline was officially expelled from the Jacobson family. Stephen then promptly handed her to the authorities.” So I was already glad the bitch is out of the picture. And then suddenly at chapter 236, Jacqueline appears again like nothing happened, still being the adoptive daughter of the Jacobson family and the family being unaware of her feelings for Stephen. Seriously? Doesn’t make sense anymore....
The latest update is just a repetition of the previous chapters...
