That suspicious-looking woman was indeed Yanis.

Tessa could still remember how Yanis would doll herself up in high-end luxury goods from head to toe. She would either dress herself in custom-made silk dresses or adorn herself with various jewelry that would match her outfit.
Her hair was always impeccably styled, and her entire demeanor practically screamed, "I'm a rich woman!"
Yet, she now looked exactly as Jasmine had described—plain.
Yanis had no makeup on her face, and she looked haggard. Her skin was sallow, and she had bags under her eyes. She was wearing a simple light gray outfit that wouldn't look out of place in the wardrobe of a middle-class woman in her 40s.
There was none of the grandeur of the once great mistress of the Gomez family.
It seemed that the Gomez family had truly fallen on hard times.
It had gotten so bad that Yanis, who cared a great deal about appearances and held a great love for fashion, was forced to dress like an ordinary Jane.
Tessa curled her lips into a smirk. She found Yanis' current state utterly satisfying as she approached Yanis.
Meanwhile, Yanis wasted no time rushing toward Tessa the moment she noticed Tessa. She was visibly agitated as she reached out to grab Tessa's arm. However, Wynn had reacted swiftly, shoving her away.
Yanis looked at Tessa as though she were her salvation. The arrogance she once exuded with every pore was now long gone.
She looked humble and downtrodden as she pleaded, "Tessa, please save Gomez Group. Please help us. The Yates family is the richest family in Rivertown, yes? I'm willing to do anything you ask of me as long as you invest in our company."
Tessa burst into laughter. "You'll do anything I ask for, huh?"
"Yes!" Yanis nodded frantically before adding, "I'll do anything as long as it's within my power to fulfil. Please help us. We're truly done for this time around. My husband's been hospitalized due to overwork, and Zachary's been drinking his life away. My family is falling apart. There's nothing left of us."
Tessa gave Yanis a mirthless smile before asking, "And what do you have to offer?"
Yanis was struck dumb. What could she offer Tessa?
She had no idea what she could possibly offer. She had spoken all those things out of desperation, promising anything and everything without even thinking about the consequences.

Sooo~ Chapters 310-318 were just a repeat of Jacqueline’s punishment, official expulsion from the Jacobson family, and arrest. With few changes since Tessa and Stephen are not together this time. So Tessa didn’t witness how Jacqueline was tortured at Stephen’s base, though at least Tessa was still called over and witnessed how Stephen officially expelled Jacqueline from the Jacobson family and how Stephen’s subordinate made Jacqueline grovel in front of Tessa. Lol. I hope Jacqueline’s really out of the story now....
Also a lot of chapters were missing here. I went back to the application where it was originally published that’s why i know that this site is not reliable...
Fucked up book! Seems like the authors were not talking to each other. LOL. Yes authors, because of the inconsistencies....
The story went downhill after pg200 1. Why is Jacqueline back… she was expelled from the family already 2. There was no reason for Rowena to be mad at Tessa 3. The Jacobson already knows that Stephen wants to get back witb Tessa after they deal with James, so why is Rowena pushing hard? LOL 4. The family also knows that Stephen and Nancy have some sort of deal. The story was okay from page 1-199, but clearly it’s a thumbs down. I can deal with grammatical errors, but story errors is just different now....
This is funny! Jacqueline was also the culprit why James knew that nancy was Stephen's cousin. So, really, what happened when steohen tortured jacqueline hahah...
I wonder how many authors does this book have? Suddenly jacqueline was back and continue to bad mouth tessa. And was stunned that tessa knows her feelings about stephen. And then rowena was freaking mad at tessa too; because there werw multiple instances that tessa sharp-tongued her. 🤣...
What is wrong with the story flow? At chapter 160-164 there’s this whole thing about Stephen revealing in front of all the Jacobsons family members about Jacqueline’s inappropriate feelings towards him and her involvement in murder. There’s even this “Just like that, Jacqueline was officially expelled from the Jacobson family. Stephen then promptly handed her to the authorities.” So I was already glad the bitch is out of the picture. And then suddenly at chapter 236, Jacqueline appears again like nothing happened, still being the adoptive daughter of the Jacobson family and the family being unaware of her feelings for Stephen. Seriously? Doesn’t make sense anymore....
The latest update is just a repetition of the previous chapters...
