As the car stopped at the entrance, Valerie and Nina stepped out of it. Valarie adjusted her blouse and looked sideways to check if Nina was coming after her.
Nina’s sharp eyes scanned the area around the building once they started walking inside. They were here to see Rafael and the plan was to talk to him about Marissa and MSin.
Valerie had already started dreaming of spending the night with him. She wished she could get more time to look sexy and more presentable.
"Finally," Valerie said flipping her hair over her shoulder, "Let’s see what Rafael has to say about all this drama that Marissa is creating."
Walking beside her, Nina smirked. Their heels were clicking on the polished marble floor as they made their way to reach the lobby, "I hope we can talk to him in peace. Don’t get frustrated if Rafael doesn’t listen to you," Nina warned Valarie whose face had gone stoic after she heard the name of her son. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"Stop thinking much, Val. Be confident!" Nina muttered under her breath with a smile, "If you want to ace it, then you need to show them how a Sinclair daughter-in-law must behave."
They had entered the lobby where soft classical music was playing in the background. That reminded Valerie, that it had been some time since she last danced or got drunk.
God! She didn’t even sleep with Ethan, ever since they stepped in Kanderton.
Now she was getting more desperate to meet Rafael.
Nina was right. No matter what was going on, inside her head, she needed to appear like a confident daughter-in-law of the Sinclair family.
They approached the reception desk where a young woman greeted them with a polite smile, "Good evening, ma’am. How may I assist you?"
Valerie raised her face with a confident smile, "We’re here to see Rafael Sinclair," she stated, "He should be expecting us."
The receptionist’s smile faltered slightly but she maintained her composure, "Please let me check."
She was checking something on her computer screen. After clicking a few keys on the keyboard, she frowned slightly, looking at the screen, and then eyed the ladies, "I’m sorry, ma’am. There is nothing here about any expected guests. In fact, we have strict instructions not to disturb him under any circumstances."
Valerie’s eyes narrowed at the woman, "So what? I’m his wife. Valerie Sinclair. You can check the internet and search for me."
Nina chimed in trying to diminish the impact of Valerie’s harsh words, "Perhaps you should check again, girl," she told the receptionist as if the poor girl was her personal assistant, "We’re not just anyone. I’m his mom and she is his wife. We both are here to pay him a surprise visit."
There were worry lines on the receptionist’s face, but she stayed firm. This wasn’t the first time, people were adamant about seeing someone.
How many times do I need to teach her that she needs to stay confident? Why does she let everyone see her desperation?
