Andrew’s car glided smoothly on the streets of Kanderton, as they neared the outskirts, the lights of the White Palace came into view.
There was nothing around the grand boundary wall of the giant house.
"I hope they don’t spoil the view by constructing tall buildings around here. The commercial structure might sabotage its look," Nina almost breathed the words.
The regret she felt about Valerie while leaving the club, had now evaporated into thin air.
Hell with Valerie!
I don’t know why she thinks that I’ll keep running after her like a fool.
"There are very slim chances of commercial construction," he said turning the steering wheel, keeping his eyes ahead on the route.
"Why?" she tried to probe, her facial features forming a scowl, "This part of the land also belongs to you?" she blinked, quite impressed with the view.
"Not me. It belonged to someone else. But the owner of the White Palace... I mean the current owner... the new one... He has bought all the land around it, as well."
"Oh," Nina pursed her lips, "he must have a great mind for the business."
Andrew shook his head at the remark, "No. He thinks his family must stay safe. For security reasons, he wanted to buy all the land."
"Wow," she chuckled, "I haven’t seen a man doing that. He must love his family like crazy.
"Seems so," he turned his head to glance at her and then moved back to the road ahead, "You seem to have deep affection for your daughter-in-law. Is there any special reason for this bond?"
Nina wasn’t ready for this question and couldn’t hide the surprise on her face, "Sorry?"
"I mean to say, I’ve hardly seen a mom-in-law, genuinely caring for their sons’ wives. You brought her to the night club so you must not be a stereotypical mom-in-law," Nina didn’t say anything, "If you love your daughter-in-law then I’m sure you will love the owner of White Palace too."
Nina looked at him with a frown,
"What is he saying? It doesn’t make sense. The current owner of White Palace and Valerie don’t have any connection. Unless they were sleeping with each other.
Andrew stole another gaze at her, "Is everything alright?" he asked casually as he felt the sudden shift in her mood.
"Oh, yes. I’m good," she looked ahead and froze.
The White Palace was in clear view now and Nina had to catch her breath. The house was glowing against the night sky. Almost gleaming under the moonlight.
There must be some special paint used on it because the walls of the entire Palace were glowing.
As they entered through giant metallic gates and pulled up to the entrance of the house, Andrew stepped out first and walked to her side to open the door.
He offered his hand to Nina, and she took it without wasting a minute.
Her heels were clicking on the marble driveway. Her eyes were wandering on every inch of the white beauty standing before her eyes.
"So, this is the White Palace? The state-of-the-art building?" Nina asked dreamily. This was the place that created havoc in Kanderton City.
He heard her whisper and smiled, "Beautiful, isn’t it?" there was pride in his voice, "Come on. Let’s settle first and then I can show you around."
Nina was almost floating in the air, with wide eyes like a kid, taking in every detail.
