After the introduction, Naila didn’t try to approach her during the party. Nina could feel her eyes on her, but she kept smiling and meeting new people.
Before this party, Nina had the impression that Naila was a simple homemaker who knew almost nothing about the outside world.
No. She was proved wrong.
Naila knew about their affair. She was not as naïve as she made her believe.
Nina didn’t even blink an eye in Gabriel’s direction. Carrying herself with dignity, she met people with a smile pasted on her face. When actually she wanted to get drunk and pass out here at the party.
The man she fell for, was married and he didn’t even bother to tell her. He had been using her and the worst thing was, she allowed it. She let him use her body and let him play mind games with her.
A waiter came to her and offered her a drink which Nina declined.
"Ma’am," the waiter’s face moved closer to her ear, "Mr. Gabriel asked me to hand over this letter to you," he showed her the small, folded chit.
Nina, at last, looked in Gabriel’s direction who was talking to someone while his arm was around Naila’s waist.
"Return it to him," Nina whispered back and turned her attention back to the guests.
"Ma’am..." the waiter stayed there, perhaps to convince her. Nina held him by his collar and pulled him to her.
"Give this letter back to him," she hissed, "and ask him to shove it up his ass!" she let go of the collar and managed a strained smile.
She wanted to pat her back for holding her composure remarkably well, smiling and laughing with everyone.
Things didn’t get better when she heard a woman’s excited voice talking to someone else, "Have you met Gabriel? Naila’s husband? He is too hot!"
Yeah, I know how hot he is! She thought bitterly.
Nobody could see the turmoil brewing within her. She even headed to Shane and stood beside him to keep herself busy. He was a little surprised to see her with him, but he didn’t show any reaction.
She tried engaging in a light-hearted conversation, but the heaviness on her chest wasn’t letting her breathe.
Her breaths grew shallow, and when she couldn’t take it anymore, she rushed to the bathroom. Once inside, she sat on the seat and hid her face behind her trembling palms. Her vision blurred as the first tear slipped down her cheek, and then the rest of the droplets started falling on her lap.
Her shoulders were shaking while crying, thinking of how Gabriel used to dodge the marriage question without telling her that he was married.
What a fool she was!
A man this handsome... how could he be single!
She was still in the stall when she heard the clicking of heels outside, "Look at Naila. How she is maintaining herself even after kids!"
The woman had envy in her voice.

I was into the story but then the translator who was translating it for whatever language to English stopped translating half the words are half English and another language it's very hard to follow a book when you can't understand what the written word is translators need to do better...
