Nina thought she could get a heart attack any minute.
"Mister Sinclair?" she spat in anger, "Don’t you know he is already dead? The only Mister Sinclair in this house is my son. Rafael Sinclair."
"Ma’am. I’m talking about Miles Sinclair. He asked us to let them go. We wanted to check her bags but there were no bags with her. She was only carrying her son."
Nina kept looking at the guard in astonishment and then her hand raised in the air, leaving the mark of her fingers on the guard’s cheek, "You low life! How dare you? How dare you try to let her go like this!"
She then walked inside and found the maids cleaning the living room. Her gaze darted to the same maid who she gave the responsibility to keep an eye on them.
Nina closed the distance, "Where is my son?"
The maid was standing there like a statue, not able to move, "Ma’am!"
A slap landed on her cheek as well.
"You pathetic bitch! I gave you a responsibility and you did this to me!" Right now, it wasn’t about that kid.
It was about her self-respect. The feeling that she had almost lost to Sheila.
And then it was her wedding day too.
She must be the most tormented bride who was about to get married to the love of her life but couldn’t keep an eye on that silly village girl.
What should I do? If I ask my butler to kill her then everyone will be confident that I am involved in the previous murders too.
She was standing there, perplexed when she heard the clicking of the stick against the floor. Miles was coming and Nina wondered if he had taken the dose of his medicine this morning.
He might be shivering but he seemed much better.
In the house, there were two butlers. One for the daytime and the other for the night shift.
The day shift one was painfully faithful to Miles while the night one worked for Nina. Right now, she couldn’t send Miles back to his bedroom due to the presence of the day shift butler close by.
"What’s going on?" Miles sat on the couch and leaned back his head, closing his eyes. Nina thought she saw the smile on the old man’s face.
"Miles!" she tried to suppress her anger, "Did you help Sheila in running away?" she asked the question but burned in rage when heard his light snoring. The old man had fallen into deep sleep.
And then she remembered about Gabriel.
"I... I need to take my credit card with me," she told herself as she wanted to buy something before her wedding.
"Yeah. Use your credit card, Nina," Miles said with a dark chuckle and Nina thought maybe she was imagining it. Didn’t he just fall asleep?
"Miles. I think you should go to your room and sleep!" she avoided rolling her eyes because now she wanted to go back to Gabriel and get done with her wedding.
They still needed to decide if they wanted to live here or in the new city where Gabriel just moved.
"No, Nina," Miles, at last, opened his eyes and started moving his wobbly legs, "You’re the one who needs to go to sleep because after today you might not want to spend any more of Shane’s money."
"And why is that?" she asked him with narrowed eyes.
"Because none of it belongs to you now. It all belongs to Sheila. Sheila Sinclair... and after her everything will pass on to her kids... I mean... kid. Alexander Sinclair."
Miles informed her with a sinister laugh and Nina thought everything was snatched from her in the blink of an eye. After Shane, she had thought that now everything belonged to her. But no.
It belonged to the next Sinclair. It belonged to Alexander...
Umm hmm.
