"Mrs. Eileen. Can we talk?" Aniya texted her head. Nowadays, she was spending most of her time in the hostel. George Donovan had given special instructions to Mrs. Eileen that Aniya wasn’t supposed to join the office till further notification.
The same day an email was sent to all the employees of the Star Corps that if they felt stressed or anxious, they were welcome to go to the psychologist appointed by the company.
Aniya examined herself in the mirror. Her face had gotten slimmer, dark circles were evident under her eyes. All those sleepless nights were visible in her features, making her look more exhausted than ever.
"I’m at my Star Corps office, Anaya," Mrs. Eileen’s response was prompt on the message, "If it’s important we can talk on call, or you can come here. Otherwise, you need to wait, dear until I arrive in the evening."
It was urgent and Aniya didn’t want to wait.
"I’ll be at your office in a while, Mrs. Eileen," she typed the message and then started getting ready. She didn’t want to face George, but this needed to be done.
She didn’t want to flee away just like that. At some point, she needed to face her ghosts, and George deserved an explanation for her sudden decisions.
She pushed open the glass door of Star Corps and the first person she bumped into was Emma.
"What do you think you are doing here?" carrying a mini wiper, her face was flushed while asking the question, "This morning, when I served you cereal in bed, I told you specifically to stay in your room," she was acting like a mama bear now.
Aniya took her by surprise by lunging at her for a hug and then kissed her cheek, "Don’t worry. I’m here for a little while."
Emma touched the part of her cheek where Aniya had just kissed, "You seem much better today, Anaya Jakes. Wow. A kiss from Anaya Jakes! You made my day!" standing in the lobby, she was announcing to the whole world and Aniya had to cover her mouth with her palm.
"Shut up!" She tried suppressing her giggles, "People might think we’re into each other."
Emma nodded and showed her the wiper, "I’ll wipe their dirty mind with this."
Leaving her behind to do her job, Aniya walked up to Mrs. Eileen’s office which was at the end of the hallway.
"Anaya!" a smirk broke on her lips when she saw her, "You look good today."
"Yeah," Aniya took the seat opposite to her, "Thanks for your care."
"Oh, don’t be silly. I did nothing. It was Emma and Olivia the whole time. And how can I forget Mr. Donovan!" The mention of his name brought those bitter-sweet memories.
Aniya was looking for words when Mrs. Eileen regarded her with a frown and then took off her glasses, "Is everything alright, dear?"
Aniya sighed and then placed her arms on the table, "I need some help, Mrs. Eileen."
"Sure. Shoot. That’s what I am here for!" she muttered with a shrug. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
