Aniya kept observing both of them like a creep. She felt like she had turned back to that little girl who used to run around the house, giving panic attacks to her mom.
"Mom. At this rate, the gala will be over before you even pick a dress," the boy joked.
His mother gave him a pointed look, "Not at all. I’ll get it stitched if I don’t find one."
He chuckled shaking his head. However, when he looked up and found her watching him, his laughter died in an instant. He was gazing at her intently. His mother who was asking him about something, frowned when she didn’t get a response from her son, "What happened?"
She turned her head to follow his gaze. Her brows knitted together as she noticed Aniya, standing frozen behind the aisle, with only her face visible.
Aniya swallowed hard, trying to look somewhere else. She stepped out from behind the aisle and clutched her purse tightly.
She forced herself to walk past them. Neither of them spoke, their gazes were fixed on Aniya as if trying to process her presence.
"Do they even remember me?" she thought and then her steps quickened as she exited the store.
She kept waiting for them to call her, but they didn’t.
I was abducted when I was a mere kid, and still, I remember them. But why can’t Mom recognize me?
***
Olivia and Emma were not in the living room and Aniya wasn’t aware if she was welcome in their rooms or not.
It seemed to her like every Chapter in her life was pretty messed up by now. Things were getting more complicated with each passing day.
Instead of staying in the living room and listening to Paige’s boring tales of boys who were crazy after her, she decided to check her friends’ rooms.
When she knocked Olivia’s room door, her voice came from inside, "Yes?"
Aniya twisted the handle and went inside. Emma was pouring hot water from the kettle into a cup that had a tea bag.
She stopped midway and cocked up a brow as if asking Aniya why she was there.
"I ... I thought I should join you people..." he said with a small smile, "I ... was getting bored there."
Olivia, who was flipping the glossy pages of a magazine, looked up, "Why?" she asked her sweetly, "Isn’t Paige there?" she batted her lashes.
Emma tried to hide the smile and Aniya stood there silently, trying to decide how to make everything right.
"Olivia! Emma! Listen... I’m sorry. Okay?" she rubbed her temples and then dropped her hands by her side, "I don’t know why I lied but... now I know I made a mistake. That day she followed me outside the office building and took me there. This all was too much for me so..." with a deep breath she sat at the edge of the bed.

I was into the story but then the translator who was translating it for whatever language to English stopped translating half the words are half English and another language it's very hard to follow a book when you can't understand what the written word is translators need to do better...
