In the past, whenever Brad came home for dinner, he always saw Nadine feeding Sean while she ate very little herself.
He had assumed she had already eaten and was simply finishing off the remaining food.
Now, he realized that Nadine always made sure Sean was full before she touched her own food.
No wonder she looked so thin.
Nadine was focused on her meal, trying to ignore the piercing gaze from across the table. She forced herself to act as if nothing was wrong.
But the more she tried to ignore Brad, the more uncomfortable she felt.
She ate only half a bowl of pasta and pecked at the other dishes. Once she was done, she put down her cutlery and glanced at Brad watching her from across the table before saying, "I'm done. You can take your time."
Just as she was about to get up and leave, Brad suddenly stood up and sat beside her to block her path.
"You've eaten, but I haven't."
For some reason, Nadine looked especially beautiful tonight. Brad found himself more drawn to her than usual.
He didn't want anything else. He just wanted her to stay with him a bit longer while he finished his meal.
Nadine was startled by his sudden move but quickly regained her composure. She looked at him coldly. "You can take your time."
Earlier, Brad had protected her and Sean by blocking the knife wielded by Gigi.
Knowing his injury was caused by defending them, she was grateful.
That was why she had prepared this meal as a token of her appreciation.
If Brad hadn't saved them, she would have taken Sean and left without looking back.
