Jean's sobbing echoed in Brad's ears, irritating him. His mind couldn't help but wander back to Nadine's restrained and stoic expression.

Last night, her fury was so intense that she likely wanted to kill him, but in the end, all she did was slap him. She never let her tears fall.

Her cheeks had flushed, and her eyes were misty. Yet, they burned with defiance. Like two stubborn little flames refusing to be extinguished in the dead of winter, her gaze was fierce and unwavering.

There was immense hatred in her eyes. She clearly wanted to tear him apart, but she forcefully held herself back. Her fingers even turned white from the strain.

At that moment, Nadine was so fragile that he almost wanted to pull her into his arms. Even now, thinking about her gaze made his chest ache with a dull pain. Hearing Jean's cries only added to his frustration.

To avoid further complications, he softened his tone and tried to sound as though he was comforting her. "Jeanie, you're a patient. Don't overthink things. Don't eat breakfast just yet. I'll come over and take you to your checkup."

Today was a regular workday, so Nadine would definitely be at the hospital. He'd be able to see her there. When he saw her, he'd be sure to give her a proper hug.

As soon as Jean heard he was coming to be with her, she immediately stopped crying. "Really? I'll be waiting for you."

Brad reassured Jean verbally, but his mind was preoccupied with something else—how to make Nadine happy when he saw her.

The rift between them had deepened too much recently. She was constantly threatening divorce or running away from home, which was driving him crazy.

The Hamilton family had a strict rule passed down through generations—no Hamiltons, male or female, were allowed to divorce.
