The bodyguards twisted Nadine's arms behind her back and escorted her toward a black vehicle parked outside.
Furious, Nadine continued cursing loudly all the way out. She even resorted to cursing in the Jancterian dialect when she found her language lacking the impact she wanted.
It wasn't until she was shoved into the car that her voice finally faded away.
Evelyn never imagined that Brad would speak to her in such a cold tone. Stunned, she stared at Brad in a daze. She didn't know when the swaddled baby in her arms had grown up into a strong adult. He was no longer a child she could control.
Disappointed, Evelyn took a step back and said with a bitter smile, "Yes, you're an adult now. You no longer need a nanny like me. I've laid down so many plans for you and thought through every possible angle, but it all turned out to be just a waste of my time."
Evelyn sighed heavily, her body swaying as if she might collapse at any moment. Gigi rushed forward to support her. "Mom, what's wrong?"
She let Evelyn lean on her shoulder for support and turned to Brad. "Brad, look at what you've done to Mom! You've almost made Mom sick with worry over that woman. How could you let Mom and Jean be so disappointed in you?"
They were so close. Just one more step and they could have displaced Nadine from her position as Mrs. Hamilton. How did they manage to fail when they were so close to the goal?
Even Brad had begun to defy their mother. Why was this happening?
Jean had been trying her best to stay out of their family affairs as an outsider. However, she shut her eyes in despair as she watched the scene. Why did she place all her hopes on the foolish mother and daughter of the Hamilton family?
