Just a second ago, Nadine felt grateful to Brad. But now, she wanted to tear that annoyingly handsome face of his apart.
Brad was a real mood killer. All the gratitude she felt for him was completely gone.
"Fine," she said curtly, sniffing. "Take off your coat. I'll dry-clean it and return it to you."
Nadine wasn't sure if it was the bickering or because she had seen such a nasty side of him, but the sadness that had consumed her moments before was now replaced by a fierce determination. All that was left was a burning desire to beat him at his own game.
Brad was relieved to see that she wasn't crying anymore and was now fired up to argue with him. He glanced at her and asked, his tone dripping with sarcasm, "Is that all? What about the favor you owe me?"
After leaving Jean's hospital room and realizing she'd been scheming against him, he wanted nothing to do with her. And when he saw Nadine, he found himself wanting to get closer to her.
It had been more than two months since they'd been intimate, and he'd been holding back that whole time. He'd been craving her for a while now, but she had been avoiding him.
She'd also made it clear that she wasn't afraid to castrate him, so he was hesitant to force himself on her, fearing she might actually follow through.
If this had been before Jean returned, Nadine would've wrapped her arms around Brad's neck and given him a deep, lingering kiss. But now, with Jean in the picture and thoughts of Jack filling her mind, she no longer felt that urge.
