Chapter 195
Amy stared at Richard in the video, and her expression was dazed. Richard looked so young, while she had grown old.
Hearing Richard’s voice, Amy said with sarcasm, “If he didn’t want you to hear it, why did he teave such things behind? Ridiculous.“ Sophia glanced over with a mocking half smile. “Obviously, it was to stop you from stabbing him in the back.”
Amy was about to fly into a rage out of humiliation when she heard Richard mention her in the video.
Richard said, “Bryan, marrying your mother was the worst mistake of my life, I wanted to make it right, but I’ve run out of chances.
“Back then, I fell head over heels for your mother at first sight. I didn’t know she was already taken. Once I knew it, I decided to let her go.
“Unexpectedly, your maternal grandparents came to me and told me that your mother had been deceived by a scumbag. She was so heartbroken that she was threatening suicide, and they hoped I could visit her.”
Amy froze on the spot, and then she shouted back loudly, “No. He was lying. It never happened like that.”
Richard’s voice continued. “It’s said that love at first sight is just lust in disguise. Maybe that’s right. I was fond of your mother, so naturally, I couldn’t refuse your grandparents‘ request.
“I always believed my sincere devotion could melt the hardest heart, and that was what moved your mother to marry me. It turns out I was dead wrong.”
At this point in the video, Richard’s expression darkened, and a wry, self ting smile flickered across tés face.
He continued, “I discovered your mother was still in touch with her ex. After the investigation, I realized your maternal grandparents deceived me. Your mother hates me, and she doesn’t even like you.
“I was torn and had conflicted feelings. After wrestling with it, I finally decide
“But I’ve never imagined she hates me this much, enough to wish I were dead.”
to let your mother go and give her what she wanted.
Amy’s eyes widened in disbelief and reddened. She cried out, “That’s not true. He was lying. He abused his power to force my parents into making me marry him.”
She then told Phillip, “We were truly in love. But because of Richard, we were torn apart. I had just given birth to Bryan at the time. Richard was a monster. I hate him.
“I hoped he would die.”
Overcome by long–buried painful memories, Amy collapsed into Phillip’s arms and cried uncontrollably.
After seeing the fun for a while, Dorian poured Sophia a glass of water. He said, “What a nasty woman.”
Sophia stroked her chin with a thoughtful expression on her face. She said, “The truly nasty never see themselves as such.”
Bryan’s eyes were bloodshot, and his temples throbbed. He pulled out some documents from that folder.
Bryan burst into laughter at the sight of the documents. He laughed until tears streamed down his face.
He said to Amy, “Here’s the agreement signed by my dad and my grandpa. Just a month before you married my dad, he transferred 700 thousand dollars to my grandpa under the guise of an investment.”
Bryan laughed, “If anyone is the real monster, it’s my grandpa. He sold you off to my dad for 700 thousand dollars. What a price tag you had.”
Over forty years ago, that 700 thousand dollars was virtually all of Richard’s fortune.

Bryan couldn’t stop his wild, bitter laughter. He thought, “Dad gave up everything just to marry Mom. But what did he get in return?
Amy snatched the documents from Bryan’s hands. Her fingers trembled violently. Tears blurred her vision as she broke into sobs that dissolved into broken laughter.
Amy’s parents and Richard all died. No one knew what really had happened hack then.
But at this point, the truth no longer mattered.
Bryan laughed and cried. His face was streaked with tears and snot.
He questioned furiously of Amy, “My dad was willing to let you two be together. Why did you plot to kill him? Why?”
Facing the accusation, Amy shook her head. “I didn’t plot to kill him. He died in a car accident. What’s that got to do with me?”
Bryan produced an auto repair receipt and restarted the video,
Richard’s voice continued. “We had two cars at home. I sent one for repairs after its brakes failed. But the moment I left, someone drove it right back.
“When I was on the phone with the mechanic, your mother suddenly insisted I take that car to work. It was pouring outside, but the chill that welled up from deep within me was far colder than the downpour.
“But then she smiled at me, the first genuinely happy smile she had given me since our wedding day.
“She hates me so much. She would even smile as she sent me to my death. We’re both exhausted after years of marriage. If this is what she wants, then so be it.
“I’m sorry, Bryan. I failed you as a father.”
After that, the video ended.
Dorian gasped in shock. “That’s terrifying. Could a normal person even do this?”
Sophia remained unfazed. She said, “Love–struck fools deserve no sympathy.”
Dorian nodded. “I didn’t expect that there was someone even more love–struck than Maelis.”
He then asked, “Sophia, what if two love–struck fools got together?
Sophia looked up at him and said, “I respect and bless them. May they be stuck forever.”
Dorian wondered, ‘Is this a blessing or a curse?‘
Amy sat there with her face utterly blank. She muttered to herself, “It wasn’t me. I never wanted to harm him. It wasn’t me.”
Bryan wiped his face and spat out in frustration, “Idiot. He was an idiot.”
He said to Amy, “My dad gave up everything to marry you. He was even willing to die for your happiness. After all these years, you still hold a grudge against him. What a fool he was.”

Amy’s face twisted in fury as she snapped, “I never harmed him. He was lying.”
Bryan pointed at Phillip and sneered at Amy, “Why don’t you ask your old lover yourself?”
