Chapter 100: Let me show you the meaning of rebirth

After the magam hounds came the last mini-boss, the Flame Lord, Cael’Zaroth.

The chamber he guarded was a vast, circular furnace buried in the heart of the dungeon. Walls pulsed with heat so intense that the very air shimmered, and veins of pure lava coursed like rivers across the ceiling, dripping molten droplets into a pit below.

At the center stood Cael’Zaroth, no hulking brute like Vak’Rath, and no seductive caster like the fire witch. He was lithe and tall, draped in robes forged from flowing fire, and his limbs flickered like coiled serpents of living flame.

"Be careful," Damon said, eyes narrowing. "This one comes back stronger after dying. Don’t blow everything in phase one."

"Exactly," Damon muttered, already stepping forward.

The Flame Lord raised a hand, and the ground responded violently. Fire geysers erupted, carving trenches into the battlefield and dividing it into isolated floating platforms of obsidian. Then, he spoke, his voice layered with a dozen echoes.

"Only flame endures. Let me show you the meaning of rebirth."

Damon smiled wryly at the irony. The Flame Lord vanished into smoke, reappearing midair to hurl a barrage of flame spears down on them. Mark intercepted with a punch that shattered two into sparks, while Kate’s orbs flared to life, catching the rest midair with precise counterbursts of blood magic.

Damon waited until Cael’Zaroth landed and then struck. He burst forward the moment Cael’Zaroth’s feet touched the obsidian platform. His axe ignited mid-swing, flames trailing behind as [Ashen Cleave] erupted in a wide arc.

The impact sent a shockwave through the stone, causing the platform to tremble. Cael’Zaroth deflected the strike with a motion so fluid it looked like dancing, his robe rippling as though it were flame itself.

"Your fire is borrowed," Cael’Zaroth hissed, and with a twist of his hand, he unleashed a focused beam of pure flame.

Damon dove through it with [Shadowstep], appearing above the flame lord’s head and bringing the axe down in a spiraling strike. A direct hit. Cael’Zaroth flared in pain as a chunk of his shoulder exploded into embers.

Below, Mark launched himself across a floating platform with a thundering leap, landing beside Damon just in time to punch Cael’Zaroth square in the gut, sending the flame lord skidding backward into a lava trench.

At the same time, Kate raised both hands as her blood orbs converged. She sent all six of them at the Lord, aiming for this weakest moment.

The boss’s health plummeted below 10%, and the lava veins flared bright red.

"It’s coming!" Damon shouted.

Cael’Zaroth laughed, a hollow, echoing sound. "Let the ashes remember my name."

Then, his body burst into flame, disintegrating into cinders.

A molten phoenix-shaped flame erupted from the ashes, wings outstretched, and descended back into Cael’Zaroth’s scorched outline. His body reformed, larger, brighter, hotter.
