Artimius’s smile grew ever so faintly. "Yes, I am talking about a spaceship that we can use to travel to other planets. Blood God, what do you truly know about the world you live in?"
Damon opened and closed his mouth. Nothing. He knew nothing.
Sylvara smirked. She then explained on her grandfather’s behalf. "What everyone knows and has come to believe is that there are eight planets in our solar system and one moon that orbits Earth. That life evolved here through natural processes, and that humanity’s reach has barely extended past its own atmosphere.
"But that’s only what the nine hidden families want you to believe. Your understanding of outer space is very rudimentary. You are basically a flat earther."
Damon scowled. There was no need for name-calling now, was there?
Sylvara’s smirk only deepened. "Don’t take it personally. Ninety-nine percent of people on this planet are in the same boat, blindfolded, spoon-fed half-truths. What you call the solar system is a sanitized model, a toy box version of what’s really out there."
"The real truth is that there are at least a hundred planets in our star system. It is our theory that these other worlds already have mana in their atmosphere, because of which we are unable to see or detect them with traditional Earth-based technology."
"Your telescopes, satellites, and even the best scientific minds can only observe what they are allowed to perceive. Anything laced with dense mana signatures remains cloaked from the mundane spectrum."
Artimius nodded in approval. "Mana saturation creates spatial distortions, natural cloaking fields, if you will. Some of these planets exist in folded layers of reality, occupying the same orbital space but separated by frequency. Think of them like hidden layers in a music track, inaudible to the average ear, yet always there, humming beneath the surface."
Damon stared, processing. "So you are saying there are others a lot more powerful than us out there? Super close to us?"
Artimius shook his head. "This we do not believe to be true. The families who have received God’s blessings vouch for this. Our world is still the only world where life exists."
"Hmmm?" Damon frowned. This didn’t really make sense to him logically. Surely, there have to be others.
"As per the words of the Gods, the other planets are what they call resource planets. Usually, when a star system is born, there is a main planet and there are resource planets. It is important for us to take control of these resource planets, which are extremely rich in raw materials."
Damon leaned forward, brows furrowed. "So let me get this straight. We’re sitting on the main planet in this system, and all the others, the hundred hidden ones, are basically... cosmic loot crates?"
Artimius chuckled. "Crude, but not entirely inaccurate. These worlds were seeded with elemental abundance long ago. Some by design. Others by disaster. They’re meant to serve the main world, to support the chosen civilization. In this case... us."
"Herbs, metals, gems, elemental crystals, even forgotten divine fragments," Sylvara continued. "These small worlds could have any number of invaluable resources. These planets are wild, untamed, and often unstable. They’re not meant for civilization. They’re meant for cultivation... extraction... conquest."
"And whoever conquers them first has the real upper hand in the new world."
Damon blinked. "So you’re saying... whoever unlocks the vessel first gets to claim the galaxy’s most overpowered mining rights and farming rights?"
However, this time there was one small detail that was different. They had him. Damon cleared his throat, interrupting the discussion. "How about we slow down a little? It’s good to rush and get the first rights and everything, but it’s also good to make sure everything is solid before we proceed to stick our heads in outer space." freewёbnoνel.com
