Chapter 52: Cowardly bastard

Arvan snorted. "You need to leave this area right now. This event is for Garth city players. You are not allowed to monopolize it by turning it into your personal massacre ground. Get out. This is enough. Don’t force our hand."

Damon’s eyes glinted, lips quirking upward. "Monopolize?" He stepped forward slowly, the shadows curling around his boots. "I’m not monopolizing anything. I’m just farming. Same as everyone else."

"You’ve turned it into a PvP bloodbath," Lirael snapped. Her voice was sharp, and her golden aura flared, casting a warm glow that contrasted starkly with Damon’s ominous presence.

"Do you even know how many players you have killed? Don’t you know that people can feel pain when they die! Dying here in the game and dying in the real life gives the same amount of pain. Even if they resurrect again, it doesn’t change the fact that you made them experience such pain."

"And how are you any different? Aren’t you threatening me right now?" Damon snorted coldly. Who the fuck was this self-righteous bitch?

Arvan drew his blade. Flames licked one side while ice coiled on the other, giving off a hiss of steam. "This is your last warning. Leave or face the Arcane Dawn’s judgement."

Damon chuckled. "Good. I was starting to get bored of monkeys and newbies." The next second his figure disappeared. However, Lirael immediately casted a divine aura spell revealing his silhouette mid-Shadowstep.

A glowing ring of holy light surged outward from her staff, catching Damon just as he emerged behind her with a claw aimed for her throat. He knew this particular spell. It would place him in a stun for 3 seconds which would be more than enough for everyone to gank him and kill him.

A very sure-fire plan and it would have worked on any other player, except he was not any other player.

He clicked his tongue. "Tch. Clever little cleric."

In a flash, he reversed direction, vanishing again before Arvan’s flaming blade could cleave through where he had just been. The battlefield lit up but in the end, Damon was nowhere to be seen. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

At the same time, another player near the perimeter fell. "Blood God is here." Someone shouted. Panic rippled through the Arcane Dawn formation.

"He slipped past us?!"

"No... no way. He was right here!"

"Where is he?! Your bind did not work?"

Players swiveled wildly, scanning the treetops, and the shadows. Arvan’s sword flared hotter, his ice edge thickening in anticipation of a counterstrike, but even he couldn’t hide the flicker of unease in his eyes.

Lirael raised a hand, sweat beading on her temple as her divine aura pulsed outward in waves—each ping attempting to catch a trace, a breath, a shadow.

But Damon was gone. Or at least, he was no longer "there."

Another scream rang out from deeper in the zone. A tank-type player—clearly one of Arcane Dawn’s reserves—toppled forward, lifeless, their name tag grayed out before they hit the ground.
