Apparently, Ethan made a bet with the seven warriors on how it would end and how many more weeks they would stay in the dungeon until the Alpha’s anger subsided and they were allowed to go back within the ranks.
All of them thought they would spend at least one or two months there before the Alpha finally summoned them back.
But, Ethan was pretty confident when he said they would get out once their luna found out.
The Gamma did that because he wanted to save money, but also because he wanted to make the situation not as serious as it looked like for them, since they looked so guilty to fail their assignment, as he knew, Cane punished them out of impulse.
"I told you, you can rely on our luna!" Ethan laughed. "Now, the seven of you will take turns to pay for my meals for the next two weeks! You can choose the day!"
"Meals in the pack house are free! Why do you want to eat outside when you can snatch anything from the kitchen?" Eron grumbled.
"Hey, I am not always in the pack house."
"You actually made a bet with them?" Iris frowned as she heard this ridiculous conversation. She was worried sick she would get more haters from the pack members, especially the warriors because of Cane’s punishment for them, but as it turned out, the situation was not as serious as she thought. Eron looked fine actually, so she assumed the others would be, too.
"Huh?" Ethan turned around, his eyes wide. He was sure Iris was behind him and didn’t read what he said.
"I was very worried, but you actually made a bet in this situation?" Iris narrowed her eyes.
"Lu- Luna... you can hear that?" Eron was quick enough to grasp the situation. Though the question was a little bit offensive, he couldn’t help, but ask.
"Yes, I can hear nice and clear," Iris said, still not happy.
Ethan and Eros then gasped in surprise. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"Did the Alpha know about this?" The Gamma came closer to her, as if he couldn’t look at her clearly.
"Yes, and I think I will ask him to put you in the dungeon, too," Iris said, annoyed. She even decided to pester Cane to release them all if he refused to listen to her request earlier, thankfully it didn’t take much effort to persuade him.
But, it showed how much Iris cared, only to find out they were betting on the situation.
"Nooo..." Ethan wailed.
============================
Cane stood in front of the room and a guard handed him a cup of tea. The smell was so sweet, it made one want to taste it.
"How is she?"
"She has not been eating much and only lying down on the bed." The guard glanced at the door. "No one talked to her, but it seems she didn’t want to talk with anyone either."
Cane nodded and the guard opened the door to a small, but clean room, where a girl was sitting on the edge of the bed. She had this anticipating look in her eyes when she saw Cane enter the room. She must have sensed his presence.
"Alpha Cane," Chrystal greeted him politely, as she stood up.
"You can sit down." Chrystal sat down on the edge of the bed again. "Your name is Chrystal?"
"Yes, Alpha," Chrystal replied.
"Do you know why I am here?"
Chrystal glanced at the cup in Cane’s hand, she gulped down and her eyes became teary. "I know," she replied in a whispery tone. "Alpha, if I swear to you and pledge my loyalty, will you spare my life?"
"You can’t pledge loyalty to me," Cane said. He stared into her eyes when he spoke again. "You have been in contact with Lady Cyan when she was here."
The shock on Chrystal’s face was the answer that Cane needed. "Alpha... lady Cyan offered me freedom, if I followed what she said. I was so desperate to be free from all the pain. Alpha Gill had never treated me well, Alpha Dristan was not so different." Tears started to trickle down from her face. "I only wanted my freedom, Alpha. I think you can understand that..."
