"You can’t do that, Luna, you will leave us broke," Eron whined.
"Not to mention you will not be able to go out with us. We usually go to cheaper restaurants. It’s not a place that you would like to visit," Dyne added.
"Luna, why didn’t you tell me that you are able to hear now? I thought we were close," Ethan complained. He was still hung up on the fact that Iris kept it a secret from him. He started to think of what else he had said in her presence when he thought she couldn’t hear. Did she hear his complaints about the Alpha?
Well, sometimes, Ethan couldn’t wrap his head around the Alpha’s actions and chose to grumble in the form of a complaint, but not in Cane’s presence.
"Oh, please, drop the subject." Eron elbowed the Gamma. "It’s a good thing, so stop whining."
Ethan pursed his lips. Eron and Dyne were close to Iris, too, but Ethan was a constant presence in her day to day life, thus they wouldn’t understand his feelings when he learned Iris could finally hear in such an abrupt way.
Seeing the Gamma feeling all dejected because she didn’t let him know until now, the Luna tiptoed and whispered into his ear. "Jace has not yet known about this, too."
In the matter of a few seconds, the gloomy clouds on his face cleared up. "Really?"
Iris nodded and she could tell that Ethan was feeling better now, knowing Jace was also clueless about it.
"I think it’s okay for us to bring the Luna around. She needs to know her own pack, right? More so, all of us will be there, so what are you worrying about?" Ethan said righteously in a light mood, which made Dyne and Eron want to punch his face because of how fast he changed his tune.
"Are you trying to be on the Luna’s good side now?" Eron frowned. "You two faced jerk."
"Do you think the Alpha will agree to let the Luna go to those parts of the pack? There will be a lot of stinky warriors and guards there. It’s not appropriate for her to be there," Dyne added.
And with that, Ethan found other people to bicker with, while Redmond had been away since Cane sent Sofia to live outside of the pack house.
On the other hand, the other five warriors had this deep furrow between their brows seeing the three of them squabble over something trivial, but what made them even more confused was noticing how comfortable the Luna was around them. She didn’t look as timid as they used to perceive her.
More so, they could tell that she was teasing them for their stupid bet.
"She is good," Kian said in a low voice, as they followed behind the four of them. "She even asked the Alpha to release us."
"Let’s see what she is up to." Asher stared at Iris’ back, which she could sense. She turned around to smile softly at them. As if being caught red handed, Asher immediately averted his gaze and because of how surprised they were, none of them reciprocated her smile.
Moreover, they weren’t used to joking around or smiling aimlessly.
======================================
Maria felt so frustrated, she had been asking to meet with the Alpha for Sofia’s sake, but her visits were always rejected. She was denied access to the pack house, even more to be in close proximity with the Alpha. ƒreewebɳovel.com
The order was clear, she needed to take care of Sofia.
But, what Maria disagreed with was; how could the Alpha be so cold and callous toward the woman who was carrying his child. How could he drive her out of the pack house? And only gave one annoying warrior to stand guard for her, while he gave the Luna seven of them.
"This must be because the Luna has instigated him. The Alpha Cane that I know is not someone like this. He is a responsible person," Maria said, as she cleaned Sofia’s legs, since she was having a hard time taking care of herself due to her pregnancy.
On the other hand, Sofia didn’t say anything. She didn’t try to stop Maria from trying to get justice for her because she was sent away, nor did she intend to tell her that the baby might actually not be the Alpha’s. It seemed, she was still holding onto some hope that the baby was actually Cane’s and what he said that night was only to scare her away.
She refused to believe that the person she slept with that night was Redmond, instead of the Alpha! She believed the Alpha did this because he was infatuated with his mate and just being rather heartless to an outsider like her.
But at the same time, she couldn’t ignore this nagging feeling, where she started to doubt her own memory regarding that night...
She couldn’t remember the details, but all she recalled was how satisfied she was and that it was the best night ever.
"Sofia, don’t be angry. You will hurt the baby," Maria said in a gentle voice, seeing how Sofia gritted her teeth. "Deliver the baby safely, I am sure, once the Alpha sees the baby, his heart will melt to know he became a father."
"Hm." Sofia lowered her head. She didn’t dare to look Maria in the eyes again.
And right at that time, they could hear a commotion from outside, something that always happened whenever Redmond entered the house.
Yes, it was Redmond, who was appointed as the warrior, who would stay by her side.
