The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 618

Chapter 618: THE CALM BEFORE STORM

After what happened during breakfast with alpha Nolan, all the warriors became a little bit more polite with Iris, especially when their hatred now was directed to Sofia, who just arrived in this pack.

They didn’t treat Iris, as if she was a special person, but the hostility that came from them reduced significantly, more so after that breakfast, they could see that their luna was not as timid as she appeared and she could carry herself just fine when it came to a provocation.

Of course, they loved Leane, as Cane’s mate at that time, therefore, they shared the same disliked toward alpha Nolan when they learned how he demanded hundreds of magic stone from them or he wouldn’t let Leane go to be with her destined mate. He sold his own daughter.

Now after they learned the baby was not their alpha’s, they only wished the luna would come with good news soon.

"I have been in this pack for a few times and I think your mate has not yet changed anything." Lou looked excited with the prospect of taking Iris sightseeing in this pack. "Have you ever gambled before? I bet you have not tried it, I can teach you how!"

Nala was speechless to see Lou’s attempt to get Iris, he was being very obvious and even a blind people could see his infatuation toward the alpha’s mate. He was really tired of living apparently... maybe life was too boring for him and he sought to die.

Hearing that the six warriors were on alert, they stepped forward and Eron pulled Iris behind his back, which made the merchant growled at him, but the warrior growled back viciously.

"What do you think you are doing?" Lou asked menacingly, he narrowed his eyes dangerously and looked like he was going to attack the warrior.

"Back off!" Eron snarled.

Seeing how the situation was escalating very fast, Iris tugged Eron’s sleeve and poke her head from behind his broad back.

"I want to have lunch with my mate. You can have lunch with your woman." Iris nodded at Nala. Her presence didn’t go unnoticed by her, especially when the other woman still looked at her with the same jealousy and unfriendly manner.

But this time, she didn’t worry about her, she was no longer a threat and only a nuisance, as she believed, there was no way she could get her hand on her mate. It was a good thing if the relationship between Nala and Lou progressed, so the two of them could leave them alone.

"You don’t like her?" Lou’s eyes turned gentle when he looked at Iris. She looked so cute and chubbier. "I can make sure you will never see her again."

"I don’t want to have lunch with you, Lou." This time Iris’s voice became a little bit firm.

"Why?" Lou pouted and crossed his arms, like a petulant child. "We can discuss about the tea you gave me before, there are a lot of merchants here right now, I am sure I can secure a few deals for you."

"You should have discussed that with Aliana. You didn’t reply to a single letter from her," Iris spoke in accusatory tone. Aliana had been sending a few letters to discuss about the tea, but Lou never wrote a single reply.

"I have not yet received anything. The hawk must be confused on the way."

That was a blatant lie and Iris was speechless how shameless Lou was.

"Luna, I saw the alpha over there! Come, I will escort you to him!" Zale tugged Iris’s hand to go with him, even though he didn’t like the alpha, but he disliked this tacky man more.

Iris let Zale pulled her away and grabbed Celia’s hand to come with her as well, while the other six warriors barraged Lou’s attempt to get Iris again.

"Stay away from the luna," Dyne said with warning tone.

Lou threw him a nasty look and his eyes filled with malice when he stared at the young boy, who took Iris away, at the same time, that young boy turned his head and met with his eyes, but there was no fear whatsoever, as he held his gaze briefly and rolled his eyes.

"Darn mutt!" Lou cursed under his breath and Nala approached him.

"You make things more difficult for yourself to court her openly." Nala watched Iris’s little entourage. She heard there were seven warriors that were appointed to be her personal guards, one was missing, but she didn’t mind it, because she got her target.

"Can you see, which one you can get?" Lou’s expression became impassive, but he looked a little bit colder now.

"Yes. I think I can get close to him." Nala nodded.

"Good. Do your job well," Lou said nonchalantly and then walked away.

On the other hand, Nala stared at his retreating back, she had this mixed feeling.

"Cane! I know what you up to!" Ethan was annoyed, he grumbled on his way to find his alpha.

Cane was talking with Grory and Argean, discussing about a few things related to the pack when his gamma approached him, fuming mad.

"Do like I say." Cane dismissed the two of them. They were Adrian’s beta and gamma, but with their knowledge about this pack and how cooperative they were, Cane let them to run the pack, still he watched them closely, because he didn’t trust them completely.
