The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 879

Chapter 879: THE FORCE FOR IRIS

"Cane, I can’t understand you." Redmond narrowed his eyes. "You don’t think to send her to a battle, right? Just because she holds power now, you are thinking of her to lead those warriors to the battlefield. Holding power and leading a bunch of rough warriors is not the same thing."

"No." Cane sipped his alcohol and listened to the crowd of this tavern. There were so many merchants here. Because the Black Market had been destroyed, the harbor of the Chrystal Moon pack had been very lively because they were trading here.

More so, many merchants were seeking for revenge for their fellow merchant in the Black Market and ready to join Cane.

"They are there to ensure her safety and you will be with her to make sure that happened." Cane shifted his attention back to Redmond, who seemed unable to find the right word to respond to that.

"Did you realize it? You have been entrusting me with so many critical things. If I betrayed you, you will be doomed, Cane." Redmond had not been entrusted with this huge responsibility before.

"You didn’t betray me in the matter with lady Cyan, why would you now?" Cane leaned his back against the backrest of his chair. "You have pledged your loyalty to Iris after all. Do as you think is right to keep her safe."

"Even though I went against your word?"

"Your loyalty is on her. You only followed my order because you thought I can keep her safe."

Redmond didn’t have a word to say.

Yes, he served alpha Gerald and did everything he was told him, but not even once that alpha showed this level of trust in him. He treated him as something disposable, as if it had been written on the stone that Redmond would do as he wished, which was true.

But, Cane trusted him like a warrior. Someone that he could rely upon. This was two different things completely and he felt something shifted in his heart. This unfamiliar and strange feeling made him restless.

Redmond used to dislike Cane and he want to keep feeling that way.

"Prepare a small ceremony for that, I will bring Iris in three days." Cane stood up when he saw Lou was about to enter the tavern. "Inform Ethan too and keep it private."

After giving his order, Cane went to approach Lou, who already had a bag full of Golden Seed fruit.

"This is so expensive, you need to pay me." Lou glanced at Redmond, but he paid no mind toward that warrior. He had spent enough time with him and Ethan to give him a headache for a lifetime, thus it was not necessary to acknowledge his presence.

"Hm."

"Pay me too for the one that lycan bought before."

Cane said nothing, he took the Golden Seed fruit and handed him a pouch of gold and five earth magic stones, yet still the merchant was not happy.

It was already late at night, but this harbor was still very crowded, as if these merchants had never slept.

"Young man!" a woman called for Cane, she was a stall lady, who sold vegetables. Shifters didn’t really eat that, since they preferred meat. "I see you are carrying Golden Seed fruit, is that for your pregnant woman?"

The alpha still had his hoodie over his head, thus no one could see his face and recognize him.
