Chapter 312 The beginning of the end II

Lyla POV

When we arrived at the entrance of the White Mountain Region, I tried to stay brave.

Xander's armies looked like sand on a beach. They covered every inch of ground in front of the gate of the White Mountain Region. As I tried to move forward, Ramsey grabbed my arms.

"Stay close," he whispered.

A few of our Sentries and Ferals lay on the ground, from the attack some moments ago. I listened as Ramsey barked orders for the death Ferals to be taken away and caged. Thankfully, the Ferals had stopped attacking.

Caius gave the order for the gates to be opened, and all the warriors who had come with us marched outside, forming a protective barrier between the Ferals and the entrance to the White Mountain Region.

Ramsey held me close while we moved between the warriors to a small tent that had been pitched at the back. Lenny was looking at something from the digital map board – it was the aerial view of the Ferals.

"There's no way we'd be able to outnumber them," Caius murmured, staring at the digital map too. "Except somehow, White Lake decides to change their minds and send their warriors here, then we might actually stand a chance."

"How many Feral can you weaken at once?" Lenny looked up as our gaze met.

"I…I don't know," I replied helplessly. "I've never been in this sort of situation, so I don't know how many my singing would affect, but it should be a good number of them at least."

"I'm hoping it's one thousand Ferals at the same time. That's the only way we would be able to fight," Lenny sighed. "How about the Trinax? Do you have much authority over them as the Ferals?"

"We cannot harm their Trinax yet," Caius pitched, coming closer to the table again. "Once their Trinax dies, the Ferals go into some sort of rage. With their Trinax still alive, it'll be easier to kill them in clusters. Plus, we should be cautious with them; their forms are bewitching. If any of our warriors stare at them for more than 10 seconds…"

"If we have our warriors take turns fighting in their war form, that might help," Ramsey said suddenly, cutting Caius off. Lyla and I would lead the first garrison. She would weaken them, and we would fight. We'll be twice as brutal and faster in our war froms…" freёwebnovel.com

"And twice as easy to kill," Lenny sighed. "It's too dangerous, Ramsey. War forms are used in overwhelming situations, plus our warriors have barely recovered their strength. If they go in that form, it would deplete them faster. Instead, we fight with our Lycans."

"Everything would work out," I piped in with a smile on my face. "I've been training with my Elite Warriors, and they know what to do. Once I start singing, it will be easier for them to…"

Before I could say more, a deafening roar split the air. The ground beneath us trembled, tilting me towards Ramsey, whose arms came around me immediately.

"What was that?" I asked, gripping onto Ramsey for dear life. I had barely asked the question when the first layer of the protective wall that surrounded the White Mountain began to crack.

"This is not right," I shook my head. "Nanny said…"

"Alpha," Kieran, one of the Ferals, ran in. "They have with them a Priestess. She is trying to bring down the walls."

"Why would a priestess fight with our enemy?" Ramsey queried. Still holding on to me, he started walking out of the tent. When we got to the front lines, he held the binoculars to his eyes to search out who it was exactly.

I stared at the figure standing in front of the Ferals, her eyes closed and her face tilted to the sky, her white robes swirling around her. She was a Sigma priestess, I could tell, and her face also looked familiar.

"Lyla… Lyla!" Nanny suddenly appeared from behind me, along with her friend, Terra; they both looked like they had just run a marathon. "Jemimah is fighting with them. She is as strong as I am. All her life, she has trained to be a High Priestess, so she would bring down those walls any moment now."

"Who is Jemimah? Is she a priestess too?" Ramsey asked, turning to her.

"Yes," Terra came forward. "A few weeks ago, we had her locked up for contempt and trying to lead a rebellion against Miriam. For context, she's insisting that Miriam cannot serve as the high priestess because she has a daughter. Still, since the Moon Goddess has not spoken or appointed another High Priestess aside from Miriam, the council of priestesses decided Miriam would act in Mother Liora's stead until we get a better solution."
