The Devil's Betrothed novel Chapter 459

Chapter 459: Doubts About Arlan

"Whoever it is, I believe we’ll encounter that person sooner or later, perhaps on the night of the New Moon," Yorian responded.

"Does that mean you know who that other person could be?"

"I can only guess," the elf said. "You should sleep now. I have something else to attend to."

"Where are you going?" Oriana asked hastily.

He raised a brow. "Do I need to report everything to you, Your Highness?"

Oriana was taken aback by the sudden shift in Yorian’s behavior once more, he seemed volatile with his mood today, prompting her to wonder, ’What’s wrong with this elf?’

"Alright, you can leave," she said. "I will call for my master to ask for her help..."

"I told you to sleep," he said coldly. "Do not try to do everything at once. Learn to be patient."

She suddenly found it easier to disobey Arlan than this elf. Why was he so intimidating today?

"Do you want me to cast a sleeping spell on you?" Yorian warned.

"No... I’ll sleep," she walked towards the bed and climbed in.

Yorian flicked his fingers. In the next moment, the lamps in the chamber extinguished, and he vanished from her presence.

Lying in bed, Oriana couldn’t help but ponder about Yorian. ’Something is going on with him for sure. What is troubling him? He’s not usually like this.’

----

Meanwhile, Yorian materialized in Arlan’s empty chamber. He meticulously combed through the study and the entire mansion, but there were no traces of the Dragon. Standing within Arlan’s room, he gazed out the window, pondering, ’Where has this Dragon ventured at such an hour, so late in the night? His easy agreement with Oriana was already a troubling sign. I hope he’s not concocting something reckless that might jeopardize the entire plan.’

Deciding to wait for Arlan’s return, Yorian settled into the chamber.

After a few hours, Arlan wearily entered his room. Sensing the elf’s presence, he frowned, "What are you doing here?"

Yorian observed him for a moment before responding, as if trying to discern something from Arlan’s demeanor.

"You’ve ignored the warning your mate gave you this morning, Prince Arlan," Yorian remarked.

"This evening, she made sure I was fine and didn’t advise me to rest more," Arlan retorted as he walked toward the lounge area where Yorian was seated. "You still haven’t explained why you’re here."

"First, I’d like to know where you teleported to. Judging by the amount of power your body has expended, it doesn’t seem like it was a nearby location. Have you traveled across the continent all of a sudden?"

Arlan walked towards the table which had water pitcher and glass kept on it as he responded, "You already know, so why ask?"

"You haven’t visited King Drayce, then..."

"Can’t I simply go out to enjoy some freedom of traveling alone?" Arlan countered. "Stop being nosy and answer me."

"I was here to see how you agreed to Oriana’s plan so readily."

"Because I know it’s your mind behind it, and you wouldn’t plan something reckless," Arlan answered, meeting Yorian’s gaze. "Your thousand-year-old brain is brimming with knowledge. Since you’re enjoying hospitality in my kingdom, I can surely tap into the ideas from your knowledgeable brain."

Yorian chuckled. "But why does it not sound convincing to me?"

"I don’t care," Arlan finished drinking water and spoke again, "now leave and let me rest, or I’ll have to complain to my mate that you disturbed my rest."
