He looked at her, and she chuckled. "I’m sure a tiny prick won’t kill a strong man like you," she showed him a needle. "You will feel paralyzed for a while, but you won’t die. Just enough for me to get answers from you. Your stubborn self, irks me."
All of a sudden, the man knelt on the ground as if his legs had gone numb. Soon his hands gave up as well, and he sat resting against the cage bars.
Erin walked to one side of the bars, unlocked the door, and entered the cage. "Apologies, but I can’t risk my safety. After all, you are much stronger than me."
His gaze followed her as she approached and knelt in front of him. "Let me see how that handsome face of yours looks while you are helpless, my dear bodyguard Luke," she pulled the dark cloth from his face. She chuckled, seeing the killing intent in his eyes. "Well, that’s one impressive look. But pity, you can do nothing."
"You already knew who I am?" he spoke.
"Of course, that’s why I trusted that you won’t harm me even if act rashly," she replied, "After all, you are my bodyguard who have vowed to protect me. Though you are stubborn and hell annoying that I always want to beat the shit out of you, I know somewhere you have that tiny bubble of kindness in your heart. Guess, my instincts about you were right."
Luke stayed calm and listened to her.
"Now tell me, will you answer, or would you prefer me to hand you over to the Crown Princess who thinks you are one pitiful man? The worry she shows for you almost makes me cry. How heartbroken she would be to see you like this."
The mention of Oriana finally changed the look in Luke’s eyes.
"Oh, it seems like something is finally working on you, Luke. Now hurry up and tell me. As a lady, it’s not proper for me to spend time with a man in one closed chamber. It might tarnish my dignity as a noblewoman."
Luke remained silent.
"Alright. I will tell my servant to inform the Crown Princess," she said, standing up.
"I went there to kill Luis," he finally spoke.
Erin stared at him for a while. He had been adamant about not saying anything, but it seemed the Crown Princess held deep importance for him. freёweɓnovel.com
"Your answer didn’t surprise me. That Luis sure has created many enemies. Must have wronged you in some way," she commented.
Luke didn’t answer, and Erin knelt in front of him again. She held his chin and made him look at her. "I am all ears to hear the story."
He simply glared at her.
"Or would you like to tell the story to the Crown Princess directly?" Erin asked, without a tinge of hesitation in her eyes.
Luke inhaled deeply, and Erin noticed his hands, which had felt paralyzed, slowly regaining strength. Before she could react, she found herself pinned under him as he moved swiftly like a leopard attacking its prey.
So tonight she stopped him to save her own family. She was always aware of his actions inside the Ahren estate.
