Chapter 655: Telling Him The Truth

Arlan and Oriana returned to Honeysuckle Palace, where Arlan followed Oriana to her chamber. He settled on the couch and asked, "Hmm, so what were you going to tell me?"

Oriana cleared her throat hesitantly and sat beside him, facing him. "I will tell you, but before that, you have to listen to all the reasons I have in my defense. Also, you will let me finish everything I want to say."

"Alright," he assured her. "Now, tell me what it is."

"First, the reasons," she began as Arlan listened attentively. "That day during the royal court session, when I told you I had teleported with Snowflake to some distant mountain and you were searching for me, I wanted to tell you something but I was worried that you would be angry and concerned. I could have dealt with your anger, but we didn’t have time. You told me we were summoned to the royal court, and I had to get ready quickly. After that session, so many things happened that it almost slipped my mind. You were also busy taking care of important matters, so I thought I would tell you once you were free. That’s why it took me two days to finally tell you about it."

Arlan maintained his calm, but he could see she felt guilty for not telling him earlier and was clearly scared of his reaction. "What is it?" he asked.

"Before that, you have to promise that you won’t be angry at Snowflake and won’t take her away from me."

"First, tell me what she did, only then will I decide what to do with her," he said, his tone serious.

"Then I won’t tell you."

He raised a brow, his expression cold and his tone threatening. "Are you sure you want to do it this way?"

A shiver ran up her spine, feeling as if she were a sinner about to be punished by the devil himself. It was rare for him to act this way with her, instead of his usual teasing and playful demeanor. Seeing him like this, she knew she shouldn’t push him further, or it wouldn’t end well for her.

"I...I am telling you, but please don’t take Snowflake away from me..." It was her biggest fear and a reason she kept it from him, knowing she should not.

Though Arlan loved her, he would not mind getting rid of anything that he would think can take her away from him. By taking her to the demon realm, Snowflake had turned into those things which Arlan would not mind getting rid of. She knew her husband well by now.

He remained unmoved, unaffected by her pleading. When it came to Oriana, nothing else mattered, not even her pet.

"Please?" she implored again.

He didn’t budge.

She sighed, a mix of helplessness and annoyance evident in her voice. "Alright, if you don’t care about my pet, then I don’t care what you would do to me."

Arlan still didn’t react. All he wanted was to hear what she had to say.

Though she claimed not to care about his reaction, fear lingered in her heart. She closed her eyes and said in one breath, "That day, Snowflake ended up teleporting me to the distant mountain but that mountain is in the Demon realm. But it wasn’t her fault. I was the one who mistakenly said I wish to know my previous life and wanted to go there. She just followed my wish as I am her master."

Silence enveloped the room. Oriana hesitantly opened her eyes, only to find Arlan staring at her, his blue eyes shifting to red and gold before settling back to blue.

Not just him—his dragon was clearly displeased and angry, but said nothing, just staring at her.
