The Heartless Ex-Wife novel Chapter 10

Chapter 10 The Disownment

Lindsey stopped at the sound of the voice.

Cassie rose from the floor with a cold face and waved her hand for someone to bring over a document.

Since you’ve decided to leave the Oconnell family, then sign this disownment.

A verbal disownment could never compare to a formal written document. Who could say Lindsey wouldn’t change her mind and cling to the luxurious life?

Cassie didn’t want this girl, who was not their blood, to take advantage of the Oconnell family.

Without hesitation, Lindsey signed the disownment.

There were two copies. She kept one, then bowed respectfully to Cassie.

Thank you for raising me all these years. Goodbye.

With that, she turned to leave, not sparing anyone a glance, including her exhusband.

Lindsey!

Just as she was about to leave the room, Eliezer instinctively stepped forward and grabbed her wrist.

Lindsey flung off his hand without hesitation, looking disgusted. Mr. Woodward, is there anything else?”

Eliezer had never seen Lindsey look at him like that before. In fact, not

one had ever dared to give him that look before.

It was a mixture of disdain, contempt, and resentment.

For a moment, he was stupefied and forgot why he had stopped her in the first place.

Jaclyn, who had been hiding behind Cassic, suddenly stepped forward.

Lindsey, don’t be so impulsive. Mom only made you sign that thing in a fit of anger. Just apologize to her and stay. What happened tonight was not my intention. You know how I get sick sometimesBesides, if you leave the Oconnell family, how will you survive all on your own? Please don’t be mad at me. I’m begging you. I’ll manage my condition better in the future. Mom and Dad only have the two of us. We should take care of them together

It sounded like she was rambling, but those words actually carried heavy implications.

First, she blamed her attempt to hire someone to violate Lindsey on her condition, painting herself as innocent. Then, she played the magnanimous one by asking Lindsey to stay.

Second, Jaelyn subtly accused Lindsey of being an ungrateful orphan. Without the Oconnell family, she would’ve died long ago. And now, after all these years of being raised by them, she could just walk away without a second thought. That was heartless.

Suddenly, a laugh rang out from the crowd.

What a brilliant performance. No wonder Ms. Oconnell can land a lead role in a famous director’s film without even attending a single class at the academy. She’s just born for the stage!

The speaker stood in the farthest corner of the room. If not for those words, no one would’ve noticed her.

She clapped slowly, sneering. You guys have prepared the disownment in advance, and she’s signed it already. Yet you’re putting on a show begging her to stay? Don’t you think it’s a bit hypocritical?
