Chapter 11 Will You Still Marry Me?

As soon as the words tripped off Lindsey’s tongue, Jaelyn and Cassie’s expressions changed drastically.

Most of the people present had caught that, even though they quickly concealed their emotions. Considering everything that had happened earlier, even an idiot could figure out what was going on.

They wanted to drive out Lindsey while still preserving a good public image.

But things rarely work out that conveniently.

Having achieved her goal, Lindsey didn’t want to waste any more time.

“I know I’m not welcome here, so I won’t stay. I won’t pursue what happened tonight. Let’s just count it as repayment for the years you guys raised me. From now on, I’m no longer a part of the Oconnell family. I won’t use your name for anything. You can rest assured!”

Then she turned and left without hesitation.

Eliezer instinctively followed. But he had only taken two steps before. being stopped by Jaelyn.

“Eliezer, are you mad at me? I don’t even know why I did those things… I really don’t…”

Lindsey paused for a brief moment

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the man lower his head and gently comfort Jaelyn. Lindsey curled her lips in disgust, and without looking. back, she walked away for good.

Tamia caught up with Lindsey. Despite being publicly scorned online, she still smiled brightly.

“Mind if I leave with you?”

Lindsey shook her head. “Suit yourself.”

She remained cool and aloof.

But Tamia couldn’t seem to stop talking.

“Ms. Oconnell, were you guys playing cards in that room? I’m really curious. What was that whole ‘You’re amazing!‘ thing about?”

Lindsey didn’t answer, but the two thugs with her couldn’t wait to blurt. out the explanation.

“That was teamwork between me and Lindsey! We won three rounds in a TOW!”

“And what about that line, ‘Why is it me again? I really can’t go on anymore“?”

“That’s because I lost too much! I nearly lost my underwear to those two! One loss, one item of clothing off. As you can see, I was almost down to nothing. Good thing you guys showed up in time!”

The other thug scratched his head awkwardly.

In contrast, the atmosphere in the room was heavy and tense.

Most of the guests had left, leaving only Jaelyn, her mother, and Eliezer

behind.

Jaelyn gazed at him pitifully, her eyes reddened..

“Eliezer, are you mad at me? I don’t know what came over me. I just couldn’t control myself when I thought about her being your wife. I didn’t mean any of it to happen! I know I was wrong. If only I hadn’t come back… If I’d just died out there…”

Cassie also started crying. “It’s my fault. Jaelyn. If I hadn’t lost you back then, you wouldn’t have turned out this way. Now you’re the only child I have left. You mustn’t let anything happen to you!”

It was like a repeat of three years ago when she nearly lost her mind after learning about Eliezer’s wedding.

Eliezer pursed his lips, looking thoughtful.

After a long silence, he finally straightened up. “Since she’s not pressing charges, there’s no need to dwell on this. Just don’t do this again.”
