Lila watched Pierre turn to leave. A while later, she smelled a family scent. She turned around and saw that it was Kieran. "Why are you standing here?"
Lila held Kieran's hand. "I came to get medicines for Grandma and someone asked me for directions."
He looked at their clasped hands. With her hand in his, he walked forward. All of a sudden, she said, "It's the New Year tomorrow. I want to visit my parents later."
"Sure. I'll send you there."
After sending the medicines to Amelie, Kieran drove Lila to the cemetery. He parked the car. She grabbed the flowers and looked at him, who was about to get out of the car too.
"I want to be alone for today."
Kieran's gaze landed on Lila. Then, he nodded. He sat back in the car and watched her walk up the stairs. Her figure grew smaller and then disappeared.
He pulled out his phone and sent Cole a message. James' name made Kieran, who had always been a calm person, frown.
The sky darkened, and there were only a few lights in the vast cemetery. The cold winter night made the atmosphere seem colder.
Kieran received a call from Nicole. After the call ended, he got out of the car and went up the stairs. Lila was sitting on the ground, looking at the picture on the tombstone calmly.
Lila understood why Gordon warned her to stop investigating this. Kieran crouched before her and held her cold fingers. She raised her head and glanced at the sky.
There was no moonlight or stars. Then, she said, "It's snowing."
