“thumbled myself for you, trading my strength for gentleness.” Although Jessica had left, the sound of her voice still echoed in Waldo’s ears.

She was a formidable figure, unmatched in horseback archery, a skilled tracker, and possessed almost unbelievable swordsmanship. Yet, she maintained the longsword wasn’t her forte, a revelation that sent a chill down Waldo’s spine as his heart pounded with a mixture of rage and regret.

“Your Highness, we should go in too,” Hughie urged anxiously. “All the other teams have already entered the Beast Zone. Prince Leon’s group just followed Ms. Yates‘ team. The hunt only lasts three days, and if we don’t go now, I’m afraid we’ll miss out.”

Waldo snapped his head around, glaring at Hughie. “Spill it was she telling the truth or not?”

With a pained expression, Hughie stammered, “Your Highness, it’s been so long, I… I’m afraid I don’t quite recall.”

Waldo squeezed his eyes shut.

Having overheard every word, Yuna, trailing close behind, stated, “True or not, Your Highness, it’s in the past. Focus on the competition–the Royal Guard token is not to be taken lightly.”

Hughie offered her a grateful glance, any regret he might have felt seeming irrelevant now. “Your Highness, Ms. Mcbride is right- bigger picture,” Hughie stated.

Waldo gripped the reins tighter, inhaled deeply one last time, and spurred his horse into a gallop with a sharp kick.

Yuna scanned their surroundings and stated decisively, “His Highness is unwell. When we enter the Beast Zone, prioritize protecting him–I’ll take care of the hunting.” She stood tall, radiating a natural air of command.

Yuna turned to the two warriors behind her and ordered, “You two will carry the spoils. Winning this competition is paramount; failure is unacceptable!”

Although Yuna held no official position, Hughie felt a wave of relief when she stepped up to take charge during Waldo’s despondency. “Yes!” Hughie immediately agreed.

With Hughie deferring to Yuna, the remaining two warriors readily followed suit, especially since Yuna and Priscilla were opposites: Priscilla was a spoiled and demanding individual, whereas Yuna genuinely embodied the qualities of a natural leader.

The entire group charged headlong into the “Beast Zone,” a hunting ground divided into two areas: the Hunting Zone and the Beast Zone; beyond the Beast Zone lay an even more terrifying place–the deep, untamed mountains and forests.
