Chapter 89
The crowd was stunned and began whispering among themselves, Jessica and Halik were using spears.
Controlling force with a spear was already harder than with a blade. But even with a blade, to precisely cut through might not of tri layers of such phen paper thin shawl was Barly impossible.
Especially when the ten layers of shawl were stacked with no gaps in between.
There was probably no one in the world who could accomplish a challenge like this.
Suddenly, everyone began to understand
This “dur” proposed by Jessica, while framed as a martial competition, n’t quite lit the conventional idea of one. Yet it was a test of martial skill, specifically spear technique.
If no one could pull it off, then it didn’t matter who was competing. It was the same for both sides…
If neither could do it, it would be a draw. And a draw was still a respectable outcome.
“So sly!” Malik, must have realized this as well and said angrily, “Finet I’ll make sure you lose!”
He wouldn’t let this match end in a draw.
He glanced coldly at Andrew, who was holding one of the stacks of shawls and nervously raising it up. “Your Highness… please, mind my safety…
With just one thrust, not only the shawl, but possibly he might be gone.
But before Andrew could finish speaking, a flash of silver streaked before his eyes.
He was so frightened he nearly fell over. When he looked again, several layers of shawl in his hands had already been split cleanly down the middle.
Andrew counted them, then loudly declared, holding the one untouched piece. “His Highness has pierced through nine layers!”
Malik looked slightly exasperated. This spear was lethal in battle. it was not ideal for something so delicate.
Who had ever needed such precise control of force with a spear!
Still, nine layers were one more than the eight Jessica had required.
But looking at her expression, it was clear. She would either not cut a single layer or cut through all of them. The outcome was already obvious. There
was no need to continue.
The crowd below felt a bit of regret. It seemed Jessica would not be able to achieve a draw with Malik after all.
At that moment, Jessica walked down from the platform and turned to Garbisch. “Garbisch, may I borrow the Voidsteel Spear?”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Garbisch handed her the Voidsteel Spear, though his face was clouded with worry.
But since there was no need to face Malik head–on this was already the best possible outcome.
Even if she lost!
losing to Malik wasn’t shameful!
Jessica took the spear and returned to the platform. She looked at Andrew and smiled. “Mr. Cuevas, may I trouble you?”
Andrew was truly terrified. Jessica clearly didn’t understand martial arts and yet insisted on playing with such a deadly weapon. He didn spear would land on the shawl or him.
