Aunt Morris had just opened her mouth to defend herself after Angelica threw her under the bus—when she suddenly remembered. She really had been the one who ordered Selina to be thrown out.
But—but it was all for Angelica, wasn’t it?
Kyle’s face turned cold.
Panic set in. "Kyle, let me explain, I..."
Before she could finish, Logan let out a quiet snort.
That alone made Aunt Morris’s nerves unravel.
Logan looked leisurely at the trembling security guards. His tone was calm, almost kind—but his words chilled to the bone.
"I’ll give you one more chance. Drag her out now, and I won’t hold you responsible."
Drag... who?
Then it clicked. Mr. Reid meant Aunt Morris. If they threw her out, they’d be off the hook.
These guards worked for the restaurant—and the restaurant was under the Reid Family. They thought their jobs were gone, but now they had a lifeline.
Aunt Morris’s eyes went wide in terror as the guards moved toward her. "Angelica! Help me!"
Angelica bit her lip, adopting a pitiful tone. "Logan, Selina’s not even hurt. There are a lot of people here—it wouldn’t look good if things got out of hand. If you want to punish my aunt, we can handle it privately. I’d hate for this to become a scene..."
Kyle’s eyes flickered, caught somewhere between shock and disappointment.
Logan didn’t respond.
Angelica secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
See? Her words still worked on him. After all, she was his "savior." She just needed time to win him back.
Angelica smiled slightly. "Auntie, hurry and thank Mr. Reid."
Aunt Morris felt like she’d narrowly escaped death. Angelica really had clout!
She smiled flatteringly. "Thank you, Mr. Reid!"
Angelica lightly touched her belly, putting on a gracious front. "Logan, I owe Selina an apology, too. I was a little emotional just now... maybe it’s a pregnancy thing..."
"Miss Morris," Logan finally turned, his voice mild, "I think you misunderstood."
Angelica froze.
A bad feeling crept up her spine.
"When I said get out," Logan said coldly, "I meant you, too."
Everyone went silent.
Logan’s "drag her out" had included Angelica?!
He was standing up for Selina. He wasn’t just punishing Aunt Morris—he was treating Angelica no differently.
But weren’t Logan and Angelica supposed to be childhood sweethearts? Weren’t they the stuff of fairytale romance?
Angelica trembled. "Logan... what are you saying?"
"If Miss Morris needs clarification," Logan said slowly, "I’ll repeat myself."
His tone was quiet but unrelenting:
"Anyone who bullies Selina will be repaid in kind. I’m not a fool."
It was clear who had instigated the whole thing—Angelica. Aunt Morris had only followed her lead.
Luke’s eyes sparkled. Damn—Logan was awesome.
In his heart, Logan had just become ten feet tall.
Luke jumped in, all fired up: "What are you waiting for? Since Miss Angelica loves dragging people out so much, let her see what it feels like. Move it!"
The guards snapped out of their daze and rushed forward. In seconds, they grabbed both Angelica and Aunt Morris and began dragging them toward the door.
Angelica lost it.
"No—don’t! You filthy peasants, let go of me! I’m pregnant with a Reid child! If anything happens to me, can you even afford it?!"
