"Where is Mr. Sinclair?" Nina shot the question at the butler as soon as she marched into her house. The head butler was coming out of the kitchen after giving important instructions to the chef for the next day.
"Ma’am?"
"I’m asking something. Answer me! Where is Mr. Sinclair?" Butler thought for a minute and then pointed towards the study door, "There."
A slow smile crept to Nina’s lips, and she uttered absentmindedly, "So... He is home!"
The butler must have thought that she had lost her mind. He gave his mistress a once over and then went to retire to his room.
Nina dropped her purse on the couch and then took off her heels. Holding her sandals, she went to the study and opened the door without knocking.
"Shane! Why did you leave me all alone at the party," she stormed inside without looking at the face of the person sitting there, "You should’ve..."
She halted in her steps as she saw Miles perked up at the sound of her voice, rubbing his eyes with a fist.
"Nina?" he asked sleepily, and Nina’s gaze swept the room, searching for Shane.
"Miles?" her eyes darted to the elderly man, "Where is Shane?"
"Hmm?" he yawned loudly, which irritated her a bit. With age, he had become crazier and more stupid, "I don’t know. Why?" he brushed his hand over his face.
Nina cast a last look around and came out of the study. The silly butler had sent her there, thinking that she was asking about Miles.
She went close to her purse to receive the call on her phone, but the number was unfamiliar, "Yes?" she asked cautiously.
The call from a stranger didn’t make sense at this indecent hour.
"So! Have you found Shane?" Nina flinched when heard Gabriel’s voice on the phone. His tone was dripping with mocked concern.
Her grip on the phone tightened, "Why are you calling?" she snapped, hardly trying to hide her irritation.
"I can help you find Shane," Gabriel offered and for some reason his offer made her stomach churn.
She let out a dry laugh, "Thanks, but I don’t need your help."
"I know," he said, and she could practically imagine a smirk on his face, "But you might waste your time looking for him. I know the place where you can easily find him."
Nina wasn’t in the mood for any argument. She didn’t trust him, not for a second. With a clenched jaw, she disconnected the call and went to her room.
After dropping the bracelet on her dresser, she took off her dress and then started removing her makeup.
From this day, our lives are separate. Sleep whoever you want to. And you won’t poke your nose in my affairs.
Nina didn’t mind Shane going to whor*es. But if there was some special kind of who*re who had piqued his interest then she needed to remind him that he wasn’t a good-looking man. A woman could only take an interest in him for money.
That night she couldn’t go to sleep while waiting for Shane. Due to their separate sleeping arrangements, she wasn’t aware that he was spending his nights outside.
He used to be an introvert and was happy in his company. Then why was he staying outside? Well! She needed to talk to him about it tomorrow.

Miles was the only one who accompanied her at the breakfast table.
"Where is Shane?" she asked him after taking her seat.
