Marissa headed to the garden where Rafael was running with Abi in his arms while the rest of the kids were running after him.
"Daddy! This isn’t fair! Run slower!" Ariel protested. Rafael slowed down but didn’t wait to get caught, so he changed his direction towards the swings.
Marissa felt contentment and gratitude while watching her family. She made a silent prayer that her family stayed happy.
She raised her face and felt the warmth of the sunlight against her face. She opened her eyes when she heard Abigail’s uncontrollable laughter in her Daddy’s arms. After her heart, it was her lungs that needed to be healed before she went for any prolonged activity.
They all were shrieking with laughter while chasing their father. Rafael was acting more like a sibling than their father.
After a while, they were finally able to catch Rafael who had started laughing heartily.
"Guys! Come over and eat something," Marissa got their attention after clapping, standing in the middle of the garden.
They all had snacks and then decided to bring out their paints and sketchbooks. Alex never liked painting or sketching but he loved getting involved with his sisters in their activities.
"You didn’t eat properly," Marissa pointed out to Alex, and that reminded Rafael of a long-gone memory.
Alexander. Eat properly! How will you help your mum if you keep skipping your meals?
The voice was stern but was filled with love.
Marissa could see a stunned expression crossing his face when the maid brought someone to the garden, "Hello, Marissa. Hello Rafael!"
"Giana!" Rafael got up excitedly and poor Giana thought he would hug her, so she spread her arms. However, she was taken by surprise when he not only lifted her off her feet but also twisted her like she was of Abi or Ariel’s age.
"Rafael! Put me down!" she was horrified and embarrassed too because of the presence of her nephew and nieces.
Marissa had to roll her lips in between her teeth. It seemed like Rafael was being a mischievous brother and wanted to do what he couldn’t do since childhood.
They both stayed without a sibling for the longest time and perhaps Rafael was trying to make it up now.
The kids giggled and gathered around them.
"Oh, God. Your daddy is annoying!" Giana shook her head before coming to hug Marissa. Rafael was grinning ear to ear when he took his seat.
"I enjoy it when you are all flared up," he picked up a peanut and tossed it in his mouth.
"And I don’t enjoy it at all when you pull such stunts," she rolled her eyes and made Abi sit on her lap. Though the child was getting bigger, but Giana didn’t mind.
As an aunt her only purpose in life was to spoil them.
"Rafael," she called her brother a little hesitantly, "There is someone who wants to meet you."
Rafael who was about to pick up his coffee cup, frowned and looked up, "Who?"
"It’s Ethan. He is here with his father,"
