Standing in George Donovan’s office, Paige Fletcher wasn’t crying but was super nervous. Olivia had arranged this meeting with George, who was sitting there with an expressionless face.
A Police deputy commissioner was also there asking questions from Paige.
"The CCTV footage of that certain time slot is missing," he turned to look at George after taking Paige’s statement, "According to our officials, they asked the people around and informed them that they saw an aged man carrying a girl in his car. She was unconscious. He quickly placed her in his car and sped away."
George wished he could burn the whole world. If the White Palace hotel employee had already left the city, then who could be the man who drove off with her?
If she fainted, why was she not registered in a hospital?
He looked at his former secretary, "I appreciate your honesty, Paige, but I can’t take you back unless I find Anaya."
Paige wanted to defend herself, but then she saw the stubborn set of George’s jaw. She hesitated, and then, with slumped shoulders, she gave him a small nod.
"However," George continued, "Until then... you can stay at Star Corps Hostel. I’ll keep paying you fifty percent of your salary."
Paige stared at her boss in disbelief. Would he do that?
She was witnessing a rare side of him as he never showed kindness to anyone.
Of course, except to Anaya.
She wished she could run to him and hug him, but that would be out of line.
Instead, a smile broke across her lips, "Thank you, Mr. Donovan. I swear, I’ll prove myself. I’m not going anywhere until we find Anaya. Thanks again," She left the office with a big smile.
After coming out of George’s office, the first thing she did was hug Olivia, "Thank you. Thank you so much for saving my job. I owe you, Olivia."
Olivia just nodded. She was still worried for Anaya but if Paige was willing to help then she didn’t want to stay mean to her.

After about an hour, when George was alone in his office, his phone rang.
"Hey, Marissa," he answered the phone with a forced smile.
"Where are you, man? I called you last night too," George felt guilty for ignoring his friend, "Can you join us for dinner tonight? The kids are flying in-- I was wondering if we all can sit together, just like old times."
Before George could say anything she spoke hurriedly, "And yes. We have a cute little guest at our place. We’re sure you will love her." She informed him excitedly.
"Why? You had another child? When?" George asked her in amusement.
Marissa and Ariel had been trying to pair him up with different girls but he never felt attraction in anyone.
If this was that attempt then it was futile as his heart was already taken. He could hardly breathe without Anaya. How was he supposed to sit through an entire meal?
"Sure, Marissa. I’ll try," he said, gulping down his emotions that were all over the place. Because he knew he wouldn’t be able to make it.

I was into the story but then the translator who was translating it for whatever language to English stopped translating half the words are half English and another language it's very hard to follow a book when you can't understand what the written word is translators need to do better...
