At that moment, Jean sat in the two-story house Brad had given her, staring blankly out at the rain. After receiving a message from Lynn, she quickly deleted it.
She then took off her underwear and warm clothes, putting on a thin hospital gown instead. She went downstairs and stood at the door, looking out into the distance.
When she saw a black Rolls-Royce Ghost approaching, she quickly darted into the garden behind the house.
Brad was quick. He got out of the car without using an umbrella and headed straight for the second floor. This house had been his gift to Jean for her 18th birthday. At the time, he had just made his first big money. When he heard that Jean had been kicked out by her mother and had nowhere to go, he bought her this house.
It was a private two-story house with over 4,000 square feet of space. Though it was smaller compared to any villa in Hamilton Estate, it held great significance. Ever since he bought it, they had often used it for their dates.
Noticing the lights on upstairs, Brad hurried up the stairs.
However, despite searching the entire house, he couldn't find Jean. Frantically, he called out her name. "Jeanie!"
From his vantage point, he could see further. When he reached the window, he spotted a white figure in the garden and immediately ran after it.
Jean was soaked. She huddled under an acacia tree, hugging her knees with her head buried in her lap. As Brad saw the rainwater dripping from her hair, it felt like a dagger to his heart.
He quickly took off his coat and draped it over her, lifting her gently from the ground as if she were a precious treasure.
"Jeanie, are you okay? Answer me!"
Jean was drenched and weak. She slowly opened her heavy eyes and gazed at him. With a trembling hand, she reached out to touch his face.
