Adam had been staying in the hospital for a while now. As he aged, he grew more fond of lively surroundings, especially enjoying time with Sean. This made it hard for him to tolerate the hospital.
The tasteless hospital food only further diminished his appetite. If not for Nadine's persuasive efforts, Adam would have insisted on leaving the hospital.
These past few days, Nadine had been visiting him daily. She brought delicious food that made him happy, so he didn't mention leaving the hospital again.
At this moment, Adam was discussing matters with Travis. His aged face was full of affection. "Today is Sean's birthday. Go and have the title deed in the safe notarized and transferred to his name.
"I'm his great-grandpa. I can't be stingy. Also, call Daniel and tell him to book two tables at the Palace Restaurant. I want the entire family to gather to celebrate Sean's birthday. Oh, I had you find a craftsman to make a gold pendant, right? Is it ready?"
Sean's birthday had been on Adam's mind for a long time, and he had prepared the birthday gift well in advance. If not for his poor health, he would have handled everything personally.
Travis pulled out a brand-new velvet box from his briefcase and opened it, revealing a gold pendant about the size of an apple. Its bright, golden color shone brilliantly under the light.
"Would I dare to neglect your instructions, Mr. Hamilton Senior? Look. I especially had Mr. Holland handcraft it. Look at the craftsmanship and the quality. There isn't another like it in all of Janctera City."
After examining the gold pendant carefully, Adam closed the box in satisfaction. "Tell Daniel to clear out Palace Restaurant. No other guests tonight, just our family. I like peace and quiet.
"Also, call Nad. Don't mention the birthday party for Sean tonight. Just say I need to see her and ask her to come keep me company."
Since Brad and Evelyn weren't attentive to Sean, Adam decided that he, as the great-grandfather, would take on that responsibility.
Travis could see that Adam was in a good mood today, so he wisely didn't disturb him and set about following his instructions.
