“Miss Yates, does this mean Adele has nothing to do with this matter?” Monica whispered cautiously.

Jessica cast a glance at her, then couldn’t help but raise her finger to flick her forehead, “You talk too much.” She chuckled. “One of these days, that big mouth of yours will land you in serious trouble.”

“Ouch!” Monica rubbed her forehead protectively, but when she saw the gates of Solidarity Palace just ahead, she immediately swallowed any further complaints.

Jessica soon arrived at the Queen’s Eminence Palace. Unlike her approach with Adele, Jessica got straight to the point the moment she arrived.

“Aconite?” The Queen fell into deep thought, but after a long while still couldn’t recall any clues. She instructed Danna to summon the two palace maids responsible for fetching the flower.

Danna glared at the two palace maids on the floor and demanded, “Speak up! You collected those flowers. What exactly were they for?”

One maid named Ada Badgley stammered, “Miss Norton, I’ve fetched flowers for the palace every month. It’s been a long–standing tradition. But I honestly don’t even know what Aconite is.”

The other maid, Lucy, was shaking violently with terror. Her voice quivering as she stammered, “Y–Your Majesty, this humble servant only heard that there’s a traditional remedy to soak one’s foot, it calms the nerves. I’ve only been giving Your Majesty foot soaks, and Your Majesty even praised my skills. I–I know nothing else. Spare me, Your Majesty!“.

The Queen let out a soft sigh and said gently, “After she gives me my nightly foot soaks and massages, I do find it easier to fall asleep. But I truly had no idea that the herbal spak she prepared for me contained Aconite.”

Jessica’s expression remained neutral as she spoke to the Queen casually, “Your Majesty, are you having trouble sleeping lately?”

Indeed, whether taken internally or used in a foot soak, Aconite has a calming effect.

Yet the Queen wasn’t old. It seemed odd that someone her age already had trouble sleeping.

Elderly people typically use such sedatives, unless someone has recently suffered severe distress, like Adele.

Danna sighed helplessly. “Ever since the Crown Prince passed away, Her Majesty has suffered from constant headaches and restless nights, often unable to sleep.”

Had Jessica not been investigating the case, Danna would never have dared to bring up such a sensitive matter.

Danna noticed that Jessica and the Queen had been getting along well lately, and she didn’t want to see their relationship turn sour. Hence, Danna thought it would be good to answer everything truthfully.

Though the Queen’s expression grew stiff, she maintained her composure, yet her mood was visibly affected.

Seeing this, Jessica said comfortingly, “Let the past rest, Your Majesty. You still have Prince Derek, who will surely care for you devotedly in the years to come.”

The Queen glanced down at the two maids before her. “And what about these two?”

With a faint smile, Jessica said, “Let them leave. I already know who’s behind this.”
