Chapter 310

Chapter 310

At long last, complete silence returned to Eminence Palace.

After Jessica left with her guards, everyone remained on edge at first, and no one dared to sleep soundly.

Everyone waited, tense and uncertain. They wondered if something else might happen. Perhaps this was another one of Jessica’s deceptive trick.

But the wait dragged on, and nothing happened. Half an hour, an hour, two hours passed.

One by one, the exhausted maids finally drifted off to sleep. With less than an hour left before dawn, morning was fast approaching, it became clear there would be no unexpected incident after all.

In the end, even Danna and the Queen gave up,except for the maids still on duty outside the Queen’s chambers. Danna herself eventually retired to her quarters to rest.

Dawn was about to break, yet the surroundings remained shrouded in a grayish haze. These predawn hours were the drowsiest of all, when guards were least vigilant.

Under the cover of the misty dawn, a shadowy figure scaled the high walls of Eminence Palace. Taking advantage of the guard shift change, when the palace sentries were at their most lax, she hid beneath a waste cart and slipped out of the palace grounds undetected, her heart pounding

Once outside, she didn’t pause for a moment. Following covert markings left by her accomplices, she quickly found the nearest safe house. It was an inn called Tranquil Pavilion.

At that time, both the guests and courtesans were asleep. The entire place was still, from upstairs to downstairs.

Dawn was approaching. As she climbed through the window, the man inside instantly tensed, a gleaming blade pressed to her throat. It’s me!she gasped.

He withdrew his blade, and the man growled, What are you doing here?

Jessica is starting to suspect me. If I don’t leave now, I’ll end up in her hands.

Jessica?

That’s right, she tracked down Master’s whereabouts last night. This place is compromised. If we don’t leave now, neither of us will survive!

Nonsense. The master is perfectly safe. Wait, damn it. You’ve fallen into her trap! The man spun, snatched a mask from the bedside, and jammed it onto his face. Move!

Just as they flung the window open, a sudden blast of chilling wind struck them headon. They threw up their hands in defense, but stood no chance against even a fraction of their opponent’s power.

The razorsharp palm strike sent them both crashing to the floor, the man’s mask clattering away.

Below the pavilion, the sound of approaching hooves echoed. And soon, the inn was surrounded. The two barely managed to rise, only then seeing clearly who had come in through the window.

PPrince Leon? The maid stammered, instantly recognizing him. Half his face was hidden behind a mask, yet his chillingly handsome visage and those piercing eyes were visible.
