Chapter 317
“They might have thunder grenades,” Jessica nearly rolled her eyes at Leon. What on earth is this guy thinking about all day? If this triday in their hideout they’re probably manufacturing Thunder Grenades down below.
They’d all witnessed just how terrifying Thunder Grenades could be. Even someone with no martial arts skills could become a force to be reckoned with if they had one in hand.
Jessica thought to herself, ‘I can’t let him go down there alone, Besides, aren’t we partners? What’s wrong with caring about my partner? Why does he always think such nonsense?‘
A glint of amusement flickered in Leon’s eyes, but he remained silent. But when Jessica looked up, she happened to catch a glimpse of the joyful glint in his eyes. Her heart skipped a beat.
Jessica admitted that whenever Leon smiles, it feels as if the whole world pales in comparison. His dark, sparkling eyes made everything else around him fade away, leaving only his radiance in sight. ‘My, my, how’s a girl supposed to survive when a man is this unfairly handsome?”
Leon slipped his arm around her waist again. “Come on, I’ll take you down there.”
Jessica stiffened. “I can walk on my own, thank you!”
“Shh!” Leon chuckled softly and whispered, “Keep quiet. Their men could be anywhere around here.”
He leapt into action, holding Jessica close as they slid down the opposite side of the cliff along the green vines. Their descent flowed with effortless grace, unhurried and light as air, leaving Jessica utterly awestruck.

“The Demon King’s skills are commendable,” she marveled. “I guess the King of the Northern Borderlands is a fitting title after all.”
In the blink of an eye, Jessica and Leon landed at the base of the cliff. Looking up, they saw only a grayish haze overhead. Even the sunlight seemed filtered through layers of mist, a testament to the cliff’s staggering depth.
The two advanced in silence, carefully scanning their way forward. Before long, in a secluded corner at the base of the cliff, they spotted several black- clad figures stationed outside a cave entrance, patrolling the area, and keeping security tight.
Jessica glanced at Leon. He leapt into action, darting along the sheer cliff face. Massive boulders soon swallowed his towering figure, and in an instant, he vanished from Jessica’s sight.
In what seemed like mere moments, Leon returned with two sets of black outfits in hand. “Quick, put these on,” Leon whispered urgently.
Jessica wrinkled in distaste. “A man’s worn clothes? Disgusting!”
“Hey, quit wasting our time and put them on!” Leon sighed helplessly. He sniffed the clothes and handed her the less odorous set. “Alright, just make do
with this.”
Jessica took the clothes, ducked behind the boulder, and quickly slipped into the black outfit. As for the mask, Jessica scrubbed it vigorously with her clothes, wishing she could dunk it in boiling water to sanitize it. But in the end, she had no choice but to put it on with a resigned sigh.
But then Jessica noticed another problem. She frowned at the boots. “These are way too big.”
Leon tore a strip from his shirt, crouched before Jessica, and gently lifted her foot, still awkwardly stuffed into the oversized boot.
“Leon…” Jessica murmured.
Without a word, Leon slipped the boot off her foot, padded it thickly with cloth, then gently slid her foot back in.
