Layla asked doubtfully, "Is that Leonardo?"
But Samantha shook her head. "No, that's not him."
"It's not? He looks really similar, though..." Layla continued staring at the man, feeling puzzled.
At the doorway, the backlight obscured the man's face. Only when he approached their private room could they faintly see his features. He resembled Leonardo, but it wasn't him.
Samantha murmured, "Leonardo's brother?"
"What did you say?" Layla was puzzled about who he was and why he was there. Hence, she missed what Samantha said.
Samantha softly repeated, "I think that's my boyfriend's brother. I've only met him once. I don't really know him well."
Both of them were utterly confused.
Kevin stepped in a bit closer before finally speaking. "I heard someone used my brother's card here, so I figured it might be someone I know and came by to say hi. I didn't expect it to be you, Samantha."
Layla found him quite youthful and attractive, leading her to believe that Samantha's boyfriend was likely in the same age range, or maybe even younger.
With that thought, it all suddenly clicked for Layla. Samantha's boyfriend was rich, good-looking, and not the abusive type. Aside from his mother and that random, slightly weird cousin, there wasn't really much to complain about.
Samantha felt a little awkward as she stood up and smiled in response. "Kevin, I didn't expect to run into you here."
Kevin smiled warmly, resembling the comfort of spring sunshine. He nodded slightly, looking at Samantha before he spoke. "My wife ordered two bags from this store. They arrived today, so I figured I'd drop by and pick them up."
He raised his hand and pointed casually toward the counter.
"Oh, I see," Samantha replied, though she wasn't quite sure how to carry on the conversation.
Ultimately, they weren't really close. During that Garrett family gathering, she only caught a glimpse of Kevin from afar and didn't have the opportunity to converse with him even once.
