Samantha obviously didn't have an employee badge or access card, but she remembered the QR code Leonardo had sent her, so she tried scanning it.
There was a beep, indicating that it was accepted.
The elevator started to ascend automatically.
Samantha breathed a sigh of relief. She never imagined that something as simple as taking an elevator to get into the company would almost trip her up.
When the elevator reached the top floor, she was greeted with a spacious and well-lit lounge. In the corner was a pantry, with the rich scent of coffee wafting through the air.
Further ahead was a semi-open office area where employees were busy at their desks. The large, over 1,100-square-foot space only had about ten workstations, making it feel both spacious and comfortable.
Samantha couldn't help but think that working in such an environment might actually be great.
In front of the office area was a reception desk. When the receptionist saw someone approaching, she immediately walked over with a friendly smile.
"Hello, may I ask who you're here to see?"
Since there were no employee badges, it was clear that Samantha wasn't from the company. But anyone who appeared on this floor was certainly no ordinary person.
"I'm here to see Leonardo Garrett."
The receptionist was momentarily taken aback. Not many people were bold enough to call Leonardo by his full name. She quickly composed herself and responded, "Of course. I'll take you to him right now."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
The receptionist led Samantha through the area and explained, "Mr. Garrett is still meeting with another guest, so please wait in the lounge over here."
"Okay."
Samantha had assumed Leonardo would be free during his lunch break, but to her surprise, he was still tied up with work. She glanced at her phone; it was already 12:34 pm.
She began to worry whether he would even have time to eat before 1:30 pm.
They happened to pass by a large, imposing door. It was slightly ajar, and she could vaguely hear voices from inside. As Samantha glanced over, she unintentionally saw Yvette standing in front of the desk.
