Samantha was still eavesdropping when she suddenly spotted the receptionist walking down the hallway with a cup of coffee and a plate of snacks.
She quickly gestured for her to be quiet, hoping to signal her to stay silent.
But the receptionist didn't get the hint and immediately spoke up. "Hey! How can you be eavesdropping on Mr. Garrett's conversation!"
At the sound of her shout, both Leonardo and Yvette turned their gaze toward the door. Yvette immediately walked over and flung it open.
"Who's there?" she asked sternly.
When she saw Samantha, she paused for a moment, frowning. "Why are you here?"
After alerting them, the receptionist quickly disappeared down the hallway with the coffee and snacks.
Leonardo stood up. When he saw it was Samantha, a faint smile appeared on his face. "You're here."
"Mm." Samantha's heart was racing. Being caught eavesdropping was embarrassing, but thankfully, Leonardo didn't call her out, giving her a bit of grace.
Frustrated by his lack of response, Yvette spoke up, "You're just going to let her stand there eavesdropping and not do anything about it?"
"If she wants to listen, let her," Leonardo replied indifferently. "Is it bothering you?"
Yvette was frustrated. "This is wrong! Eavesdropping is so rude!"
Leonardo's tone turned sharp, "I wasn't even planning on meeting you. You insisted on coming to my office to stir things up, yet you're talking about manners?"
His words left her speechless, unable to respond. She couldn't believe how much he had changed. He used to be a fairly normal man, but now he was speaking so harshly.
He glanced at her. "Do you need me to show you out?"
