Layla was startled and quickly slapped Samantha's arm. "Stop making stuff up!"
Samantha pouted. "It's true. You just rejected him but couldn't resist looking back. If it's really that hard, just give in. After all, you're not going to lose anything, right?"
"Samantha, you don't understand. If I get together with him, I'll end up hurting him."
"But refusing him like this is already hurting him. Did you see the way he looked at you? I honestly thought he was about to cry."
While it was a bit exaggerated, Samantha wanted that kind of effect. After all, once a woman started feeling sorry for a man, she was already close to falling for him.
She thought Ethan was a good man. Even after Layla's repeated rejections, he still persisted without badmouthing her. His character and integrity were definitely solid.
Plus, Samantha wanted Layla to find her own happiness.
Layla lowered her head and bit her lips, lost in thought.
Samantha didn't push further. Ultimately, it was Layla's decision to make.
"We're here."
The cab driver smoothly pulled over to the side of the road and hurriedly said, "Traffic's bad here. I can't stay too long. Hurry up and pay the fare."
Samantha and Layla quickly exited the cab, feeling a little flustered.
Suddenly, Layla asked, "How about I buy a car?"
"Good idea!"
Upon hearing that, Samantha felt even happier than buying a car herself. However, she kindly reminded Layla, "Forget about the price. Can you even afford to drive it? Parking's really expensive in Jedo. Even my academy charges one dollar an hour."
Some places even charged two or three dollars, which was outrageous.
Layla paused, then confidently replied, "I can afford it. I've been making quite a bit recently."
Samantha looked at her with admiration as if she were her idol. "Layla, you're my hero!" she exclaimed.
